Hi,
i use the app to get the temperature of xiamoi aquara sensor. the Vterhmo is warming up but

but the state “says” no

should it not be
warming up = state on
cooling down = stat off?
or do i misunderstand something?

This is probably because the actual temperature and set temperature is almost equal. With temp controllers there is almost always a hysteresis functionality built in.
HI,
thats it. Thx!
Hi @Andres_Moerland i’m using “9% in last 2 minutes” for a long period now and this works really good for my situation (Aqara temp and humidity sensor next to shower cabin). This reacts very fast and accurate.
Thank you for an excellent app.
Suggestion: Virtual power control.
Motivation: There are a few applications where it can be beneficial to control the average power output of a heater. One reason is to get a more even heat, or to give the heat time to diffuse and avoid local hot spots around the heater. Another reason is to keep the heat on, but to keep average power usage down during period of high electricity costs, or to keep total maximum power down to avoid paying penalties for maximum consumption. (Typical maximum average within one hour)
Implementation. Introduce two parameters.
Duty Cycle (power level) given in percent from 1-100.
Switching cycle time. (Inverse of frequency) For something like a panel heater a sensible default could be 5 minutes. Possibly the existing “Timing” parameter could be used, but it need to be extended to more than 5000ms, 5000 seconds would be a good maximum.
Hi
I’m trying to use VThermo in combination with Piggybank to control the heating in our house and they both work great on their own, but I’m having trouble using the vthermo as a controllable device in piggybank.
I’ve combined 5 thermostats into a virtual thermostat for our living area to control the average temperature. Removed those 5 from piggy and replaced with virtual. Piggybank DOES control it, and the virtual thermostat does change the setpoint for the 5 thermostats, but it doesn’t seem to follow the normal “logic” of piggybank.
My guess is that this has to do with power consumption as the VT only has a static alternative for power consumption. Did anyone successfully work out how to use this combination of apps? Is it somehow possible to have have the thermostats update the VT with the actual power consumption?
Thank you, and thanks to Bjørnar all the awesome apps!![]()
I’m using several Vthermostats with Sonoff temp sensors and IKEA smart plugs. Within Homey this works like a charm. But my preferred approach for controlling my home is through Apple Home. It simply has a higher spouse approval factor and I have to admit that I too like the UI in Apple Home better.
So I have added the Vthermostats with Homekitty. They show up as expected and are recognized as thermostats, but the target temperature range in Apple Home seems to be fixed at 10 to 38 degrees centigrade, whilst they’ve been set to 1 to 25 degrees in the advanced settings of the virtual device in Homey. Is this a limitation in Apple Home, a problem with the translation in Homekitty, or is it a bug in Vthermo?
The range starting at 10 degrees is a problem for me, because one of the Vthermostats controls the heating in the garage, where it only needs to stay above 5 degrees to prevent moisture problems. Heating the garage to at least 10 degrees is just a waste of energy.
Hi,
I’m using VThermo without problem with my 2023 Homey. It’s great! VThermo is V1.10.4
I’ve got a little problem with energy graphic within VThermo. Which is always at max consumption (70w) ; even when heating is turning off, graphic is still in high position. I thought it use to be low (3w in my settings).
Any idea?
Thanks a lot
I answer to myself. ![]()
When VThermo is disactivated, graph goes at down position.
So my question : what is expected?
Graph goes at down position only if VThermo device is disactivated.
Or
Graph goes down when VThermo device is activated AND heating is off.
Thanks for your help
I have a Fibaro wall plug and find no way to configure it as a heater. Its device class can not be edited in settings in Homey, as far as I can see. I can only manipulate association groups and reporting intervals etc. I probably miss something essential. Vthermo seems the perfect thing, and it gets the temperature signal from my smoke sensors or Aeotec multisensor correctly, but if the wall plug can not be set as a heater I have no actuator. The wall plug controls a panel heater. Like many, many others I came to Homey (Pro 2023) from Fibaro linked devices and heating panels and feel a bit lost. Sorry if this is trivial…
After going through all the posts in this thread I found the answer, probably: The Fibaro wall plug can be configured as Heater only in the Homey phone app, not via PC/web. Weird.
I got it working in a reasonable way in the end. I added a VTherm to track the TRV, and a virtual socket in the same room configured as a Heater. Now when the TRV reaches temperature the VTherm switches the heater on and off at roughly the same points.
Hi,
I´m trying out this app: Zigbee2MQTT App for Homey | Homey but vThermo will not catch the temperature from my temps sensors added from Zigbee2MQTT. The vHumidity is working and reports the right values.
Do you have any ideas what could be wrong?
In the last few hours, all my VThermos have stopped updating current temperature from the temp sensors. All the temp sensors report correct and updated values, but they are not reflected in the VThermo current temperature, causing rooms to overheat/underheat. I am running HP23, VThermo 1.10.4. Have tried changing the VThermo settings to read from other zones, then setting back to same zone. Have restarted Homey as well as the VThermo app. Any ideas?
Hi!
Is there a way to change temperature steps to not include decimals? My heaters/thermostats don’t support decimals, so the VThermo temp changes get rounded anyways, and the “rotatory knob” of VThermo just makes it a bit harder to adjust to the right temperature.
Thanks in advance for the help!
I have a Danfoss RS-Z which I use as a temperature sensor and to manually set target temperature. In the same room, I also have a radiator thermostat (Eurotronic), which is controlled by VThermo.
However, the class of the RS-Z is thermostat. Will that create problems for Vthermo? Or can I somehow prevent VThermo from trying to set target temperature of the RS-Z?
Hi,
I’m using the vThermo for the fan in the bathroom on humidity. I use a shelly for humidity and a shelly on/off for controlling the fan. The basics are working fine.
But now, when the humidity base value is changing because of the wheather changes the fan stops too early or keeps spinning all day.
What i tried to do now is measuring the % humidity when someone enters the shower and and change the target % humidity of VThermo to that value +5%. But the action card to change the target humidity only allows me to enter a hard-value and not a variable. Is this a feature request or did i mis somtething?
regards,
Pieter
I keep having to restart the VThermo app because it is unable to switch wall plugs on/off. For example, the temperature will be high and the VThermo thermostat wants to reduce the temperature but the wall plug that controls the panel heater doesn’t switch off until I restart the VThermo app. Happens every once in a while. I’m on Homey Pro 2023 (10.3.4) and VThermo 1.10.4
