[APP][Pro] Ubiquiti UniFi Protect

Hello Stephan,

I’ve installed the app, I can see 3 camera’s and that works really nice. However, I have a unifi access reader pro instead of a doorbell G4. Do you think the app could be altered to also include those? Or is this a completely separate API and system from Unifi?

I have Unifi Protect 2.8.35 on UniFi OS 3.1.15 running on UDM SE.
Camera is a G5 Bullet
Homey Pro 2023, 10.0.0

I’m having a issue with the snapshot image quality, the snapshot in Homey seems to have very high compression loosing accuracy for example for license plates.

When taking a snapshot from directly in Unifi Protect, the plates are readable and the file size is bigger which would make me believe that the compression rate is lower.

Is there a way to improve the image quality for snapshots in the Homey app?

Workaround: Enable anonymous snapshots on the camera local settings page by accessing http://camera-ip/ user ubnt / pass is the recovery code available in Unifi Console / Protect / Settings / System.

Now it is possible to use Image Grabber to fetch a current snapshot from http://camera-ip/snap.jpeg. The image is then at highest quality and full resolution.

So my flow is now:

Can you try Ubiquiti UniFi Protect | Homey this is without cropping the image. The width in the parameters will been ignored.

@ObelixNL is there a reason the smart detection isn’t working? And is there a workaround?
My whole camerasetup and notifications were rdepending on the smart detections, (persons and cars) with the normal detection alarm (bewegingsalarm) I even get notifications of passing cats.
Would be so great to have the smart detection work again.

Will test it.

There is also an option in the settings to use the camera directly image/snapshot. This is much beter format then from the protec controller.

Are you using the beta version with the new doorbell device?

I’m using the beta, but also tried the normal version. Also removed all the cameras, doesn’t help.
My setup: Cloudkey gen 2, 3x G4 bullet camera, 1x G4 doorbell. So I’m not using the newest doorbell.

I’ve searched the topic and saw some posts of myself around March '22 because there was the memory leak bug, you fixed that but smart detections stopped working. Then you made a new stable version and smart detections worked again until July (without the recognition of person/car, that worked before also). I’ve checked the versions, and 1.5.16 didn’t gave any problems since 10 oktober 2022, so that was a good version! I think since 1.5.17/18/19 the smart detection doesn’t work again, so maybe this helps you to see the problem between the two versions?

1.5.19 5 jul 2023
Fixing some bugs
1.5.18 5 jul 2023
Fixing connection status and old action flow cards
1.5.17 4 jul 2023
Add doorbell support and doorbel pressed flow.
1.5.16 10 okt 2022
External error logging enabled

@Arjank95 can you try the new test version?

At first tests the smart detection stopped triggering all together. But from today that is now working on the test version and was triggered properly both for human and vehicles.

Snapshot image quality indeed is excellent now.

Thank you for your work on the app. Now I need to reconsider positioning of the camera, so that makes sence in my setup.

GREAT! It works like a charm! Smart detections works again! Even the detection type (vehicle or person) is back! That didn’t work for more than a year! I’m very happy with this new version, thank you for the fast respons and the effort to fix it again!

Added support to set LCD message for doorbells!
You can try it with our test version.

Hi, I was wondering if the UP chime devices can be added. I’m having two doorbells (a pro version at the gate and a standard version at the door) and 2 Chimes (on downstairs and one at the first floor) but the unify software doesn’t provide the option to link a Chime to multiple doorbells. Like to use Homey to ring all Chimes for both doorbells. I’m now using Sonos (play a ring tone) but thats not really stable.

Also nice to use the chime (ring) in case a person is detected on a G4 camera…

i can’t get it to work.

only a “please set the cloud key” message when trying to add a device

i’ve tried:

https://192.168.100.39/protect/dashboard
192.168.100.39
192.168.100.39:443

what would be the correct syntax?
User is a read-only user with all rights.

Cloudkey is:
UniFi OS 3.1.14

Can you make an screenshot from your settings page?

sure

protect:

E14 is your Unifi site?

yes, but makes no difference if site is empty or “default”

message: Error: Cannot read properties of null (reading ‘getSites’)

You didn’t fill in the lines properly!
See my settings underneath, upper line is for IP adress, lower line for the port. And uncheck the camera snapshot.

OMG. me stupid… you are right and it is working now. THX!

(having white entry fields on a white background is maybe not the best option, but thats another story)
