Is the IP address of the RB hub still the same?
At first the app was (succesfully) connected thru āhostā āRainbird.localā
When everything stopped working I tried to set the IP adress in the āhostā field in the homey app.
Sadly, this doesnāt make any difference.
When I test a flow in homey, the response is an error at the card āstart zone xx for xx minutesā
a popup appears with the text: āNetwork request failedā
Can you check if Homey can reach rainbird.localās IP address?
- Install Net Scan app
- Add a āIPā device
- Enter the IP address and a name
The status should be āonlineā
Hi Peter, thanks for your help,
Yes it can, i checked this with the net scan app like you asked.
So I do not think itās a network related problem, cause my phone app from rain bird can connect, and also home assisitant can connect and control the rain bird controller with the HA integration.
Thanks.
Your second sentence is the exact reason I wanted you to check if Homey can reach the device. Often other stuff just works, except for Homey.
OK, next steps to check or perform:
Device
Is the Rain Bird device in Homey added via the Rain Bird app (LAN) and not showing as āunavailableā ( = red triangle) in the device tile?
Does the Rain Bird device tile in Homey respond to manual commands?
Wifi
If you use guest network/AP isolation, disable it for that SSID.
Re-login
Open the Rain Bird device settings in Homey and re-enter any required PIN/password or re-add the device to refresh the session.
Hi Peter,
Thank you for your suggestions, meanwile a couldnāt stand it that the device didnāt worked.
So⦠i kind of fixed it by nowā¦
It seems like that any changes to the network āhostā settings in de existing device didnāt really changed by applying it. Even repairing it did not solve the problem.
In the test app I added a new device, with the IP adress as āhostā instead of the (in previous version) standard host ārainbird.localā.
So by now I have 2 devices, with the same settings, but only the new one is working and connecting to the Rain-bird controller.
Many thanks for your time and suggestions!
Ah, great ideas! And youāre welcome!
Has anyone had any success with connecting an ARC series controller with this APP?
I am also trying to connect but without success. Maybe Rainbird 2.0 app is a problem. Year ago it was working ok.
Iām also trying to connect without success.
Im guessing Host is the IP-number thats its connected in the router and its supposed to start with 192.168.**.***?
And then you enter the password that you have to connect to the app and then connect?
It just keeps spinning.
@sorted.bits and @Brian_Monninkhof did you find a way to transfer the app?
Because right now I have two instances of the same app and the one working is the test appā¦
Tried everything now, ip address direct is pingable. Rainbird app can connect (but always through cloud). My rc2 just wonāt setup in homey, whatever I do in settings (tp link deco) I just fails. Even tried disabling beam forming, temporary made the network 2.4ghz only, and other settings.
Anyone with an idea?

I have a Rainbird ESP-TM2, but the app isnāt working. I managed to add the device once, but Flow didnāt work. Then I tried to add it again, but after entering the IP address and password (correctly), it wouldnāt add it. What else can I try?
I know this is an old post, but I canāt seem to get this to work. I added the IP address of the RainBird into the āHostā block, then added my P/W of the Rainbird app into the āPasswordā block and it just spinsā¦never connects. Did you get this to work? What am I doing wrong? Thanks for helping.
Did you ever get this to work? Iām still having the same problem
Thanks for doing thisā¦but I canāt seem to connect to my RainBird ESP-TM2.
- Iāve entered my device IP address in the Host block.
- Then entered my Rain Bird app P/W in the Password blockā¦no love. Just keeps spinningā¦
Then..
- ā¦entered my device IP address in the Host block as before
- I entered the āController Passwordā into the Password block (instead of the Rain Bird app P/W). Still no love.
Then..
- Entered ārainbird.localā in the Host block
- Entered the Controller Password. Still no love
What could I be doing wrong? Also, there are no other connections to the Rainbird active whilst trying to connect itā¦
Please give me guidanceā¦thanks.
No homey never sees it. Local network also never sees it locally, always through could and sometimes it is a week online, and then suddenly it is offline and stays offline until unplugging the device and restarting it. Tried all sort of networks now, 2 different routers, nothing changes. I think the magnetic valves OR the pump start relais somehow interfere with the very outdated Wifi module in this controller.
