[APP][Pro] Mitsubishi WF-RAC - Cooling, heating and ventilation

Hi Edwin,
Thanks for your elaborate responce, the interesting topic and the update to the app.
I’m going to check some things out, I’ll get back to you.

Two questions though

  1. Can you name the IP’s of the airco you mention? The one with the sync errors
  2. You mention 3 Airco’s? I have 4 xxx.67/68/69/70.

Kind regards,
Marco

Hi Edwin,

As you suggested, I ran a network scan using Net Scan, and as expected, the MHI Wi-Fi modules are quite unreliable. That said, they do always recover eventually—no warning icons appear. The rest of my Fritz!Box network, both wireless and wired, runs without issues. It took me some time to verify this, hence the delay in my reply.

To test your hypothesis about a possible Wi-Fi-related issue, I temporarily blocked the airco’s Wi-Fi. Naturally, the unit didn’t respond during this time, but once Wi-Fi was reactivated, everything resumed normal operation. I generated some reports during these tests—hopefully they are still accessible.

At this point, I feel confident the issues we’re experiencing aren’t caused by Wi-Fi instability.

While checking the two units, I noticed that the ones I had previously reinstalled in Homey stopped working again. As before, the number of devices (“Aantal apparaten”) dropped from 2 to 1.

I proceeded to reinstall IP “70” (removed it from Homey, re-added it, and fixed the flows), and it worked again. For error logging purposes, I operated IP “69”, which did not respond, and IP “70”, which did.

I’ve created a report: bdd38d19-745d-4899-86be-f7bc46129a0d — perhaps your new logging system can glean something useful from it or compare it with earlier ones I sent.

I believe we’re down to two possible causes:

  1. The app somehow unregisters itself as the controller on the airco unit.

  2. Smart M-Air is severing the Homey device connection in some way.

Rather than focusing solely on the root cause for now, perhaps there’s a practical workaround you could implement for the affected users. Would it be possible to add a feature to your app that helps recover or reconnect lost airco devices—without requiring full removal and setup? I’ve seen similar functionality in other Homey apps, and it would really help mitigate the issue for many of us.

Thanks for your time and continued support.

Kind regards,

M. van Barneveld.

Hi Edwin,

After using the app for a while i’ve moved my Airco devices to another VLAN, this is another VLAN then Homey device. So the airco devices changed there ip-addresses. Both devices are still reachable to each other and i’ve managed to add the airco devices again to the Smart M-Air app. The only problem i still have is that from the Homey app i’m not able to find and add the airco devices anymore, the Homey app does not find any new device. When i move the airco devices back to the same VLAN as the Homey device, i’m able to add the devices.

What could be te reason of this? Would it be helpfull to have a functionality to dynamic change the ip-adres of the airco device within the Homey app?

Best regards,
Joost

Hoi Edwin,

Hi Marco,

Thank you for your extensive testing.

I’m afraid I lost that one…

This is extremely weird, because the function used to delete the account from the airconditioner is only called when the device is deleted from Homey (by a user).

This is true; when you are logged in in the Smart M-Air app, Homey cannot access the API of the airconditioner. It will block all other requests to the device.

The thing is, I am using the auto discovery functionality, which is build by Athom.
Why the device becomes unresponsive (or isn’t properly re-discovered?), is something I don’t know at the moment.

I could remove the auto discovery as a whole and just an IP address when pairing the device.
But on the other hand, that won’t be very user friendly.

Hi Christo,

Please use English in this topic, as non Dutch users can also understand and maybe help them wil their problem.

The thing is, the device button isn’t a actionable button. Other apps use this to turn it’s device on and off, but I didn’t implement this as users sometimes clicked the button without noticing, and the airconditioner was turned on without them knowing.

You can use the dropdown in the device details to turn the device on and off:

Hi Joost,

Maybe it has something to do with the way auto discovery works (in Homey?).

I do not know the ins and outs of how multicast-DNS service discovery works on different VLANs I’m afraid.

@evdpol Look at this. In HA there was the same connection problem is think? https://gathering.tweakers.net/forum/list_message/83369402#83369402

It works btw with the SRK20ZS-WF.

Ah! They are keeping the connection to the unit alive.

Implementing now…

I released a new version of the app which should improve the connection to the device.

let me know what you think.

Hi @evdpol first of all thank you so much for supporting the mitsubishi airco’s!

Is there a way to get night setback, silent and eco modes in the app/plugin? That would be wonderful for night time. Thanks

Hi Robin,

Samsung phone IP is 192.168.1.101
Homey pro 2023 IP wifi 192.168.1.60 and is connected
Also Homey Pro 2023 LAN 192.168.1.71 and is connected

Have you tips , i have no idea
I hope you can help me

Oh i forget this pictures of my airco and WF-RAC

I have the same wifi module. Homey can find the device, but I immediately get the following error:

Please provide the firmware versions of both the wireless- and microcontroller, and the airco model when posting “it just doesn’t work”.

Or better yet, create a diagnostic report from the app settings page in the Homey app right after the error occurred.

Groet, Ron

Hi, I’m new to homey and would like to add my AC’s. I’ve installed your app en devices are found and added. Looks like the status is unknown. Can you help me?

Ik heb de app sinds vandaag geinstalleeerd en zie ook geen (tot weinig) communicatie met de app.
