[APP][Pro] < group > (3.2.4 - Stable)

I’m using the App since 2 years without any issues. Today I was forced to put two innr GU10 bulbs offline for around 7 hours. After power was back the group of those 2 spots is not working anymore. The devices are fine in general.
I deleted the group an created a new one…still not working.
Feels very strange, any ideas what happend?
thx
Daniel

Hello,

I’m trying to avoid having the power consumption twice for each device and the group there are in.

I selected : ignore the value for the devices for bith power and energy and set off and off value to 0 but homey still reports 1W by group.

Any idea to set it up to display 0 instead so the total piwer and energy are not at least doubled

which is the homey version? Is it “Node.js
v18.18.0”? I am relatively new to Homey, I used home assistant and a RasPi before. So it is not a migration, I just set everything up from scratch.
I got a HomeyPro 2023 and the failing devices were zigbee lights from Namron.

I find the power double up very annoying as well, I’ve asked homey multiple times to allow a way for devs to noninckude it but I’ve never received a response. Perhaps if other also contact general Athom support asking they will implement it.

When I next work on the app I’ll think about adding a new group type that allows you to specifically choose which capabilities to group - but I have no plans at the moment to work on this app.

Hey zillion, did you end up getting this resolved? Perhaps try and use the maintenance ->repair option and see if the devices are in there?

I guess these lines can now be deleted from post #1

Thanks @Peter_Kawa - Fixed.

New home pro user here.

I installed the app and grouped 6 philip hue ceiling lights

With lights on: I hit the group power button. Lights go off, but button state goes off and immediately back on. Lights are now off. All individual hue lights show off. Group button state is on.

I hit the group power button again and it goes to off state. Lights are still off.

I hit again and all lights come on and button state goes to on.

Rinse and repeat. Happens every time. I have to hit the group button twice to get it to the off state, even though the lights do go off the first time.

The group app ( as well as the inbuilt room lights) both suffer from the same issue, in that the group app determines whether it should be ‘on’ or ‘off’ based upon the lights in the group.

If all the lights are on then the group is on, if they are off then the group is off.

Now consider that in relation to what your actually asking for it to do.

Given your lights are on…

  1. You turn off the group app … and it turns off.
  2. The first light in the group turns off … and now the group app goes wait a second, there are 5 lights on … I should be on.
  3. Because some of the lights are still on - the group turns itself back on.
  4. The same then occurs as each of the lights turns off … now sometimes this is quick and other times it can take 5 seconds (or longer).
  5. Once ALL the lights in the group are off the group app will assess its status and finally go … right I am meant to be off - and turns off.

Because these actions happen both sequentially (via the antenna) as well asynchronously the app does an action them immediately responds to each of the items in the group.

This is why you turn your lights off and the group immediately turns off… however once the app has updated each of the lights to off … the group should also be updated. Perhaps check that the homey app is correctly showing off for all the lights, or there isnt accidently another light added to the group.

If you are interested in seeing the behavior in more detail to understand it - you can see it easier with the dim function on a group. When you send a command to a group - as each device responds the ‘average’ dim level changes and you cam see the group app calculate and update what the groups dim level is … until they reach the amount you specified.

You can also change the behaviour of groups, so that the are “on when any light is on” or “on when all lights are on” or “on when most lights are on”, “always on”, “always off”, “on when the lights are off” or a bunch of other options - check these values as well to make sure you have set it correctly.

Very informative response. Thank you.

I just did some testing, and if I understood you correctly, it should turn off when all are off. This is not happening. I waited over a minute after all lights were off, and the button still shows as to “on” and must be pressed once more to be “off”

The group is the 5 ceiling lights. As you can see they are all off. The IOS app is identical to the web app in behavior.

Thanks

Tim

If you go to the groups settings then maintenance then repair … then in the search box type cxxx (to filter out everything but the selected devices)… and screenshot

Can you also screen shot the setting page which shows which option is selected for grouping (if any on then show as on”.

Can you take a screenshot then post it here? Also best to send a diagnostic, include your forum name, the name of the group which is failing and the name of the devices in the group.

Also what type of homey are you using(ho23) , what version of the group app, what version of the homey app, what technology does the ceiling lights use? (Zwave?) if zwave what type of authorisation is being used s(0)?

I have all types of state issues with zwave on the hp23, but the errors also show up in the devices … worth checking though I guess

I’m having an issue with this app, and hope i can get some tips here.
I have created several groups of lights in the group app.
The groups with 3 lights (kids rooms) work as you would expect.
The groups with 4 or more lights do not.
When turning on or off the lights from the group, one light is always ‘forgotten’ and is not turned on or off. The others work as expected.
I have 5 groups, 2 with 3 lights, work OK
1 with 4 lights, the 3rd lamp fails turning on/off (also in the Homey system the status is not switched)
2 with 5 lights, the 1st lamp fails turning on/off (also in the Homey system the status is not switched)
I’ve tried re-creating the groups, no diffrence.
Switching the lights individually works without any issue

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Have you tried restarting the app?

More than once, even restarted the homey itself (pro 2023)

What type of homey are you using: HP16/HP19/HP23/HB
What version of the group app :
What version of the homey app
What version of homey firmware
What type of group is it? : Blended, Merged, Light, Socket, Etc
What Calculation Method for the group : “Any/All/?”
What capabilities are in the group?
What type of devices are in the group?
What technology do the devices use : Wifi/Zigbee/Zwave
If zwave, what type of encryption : Sx S0, S2
Do you have a retry set, if so how many

Is it always the same device which is not turned?
After using the the group to turn on the device does the homey app correct show the right status of each light?

I thought this layout would be helpfull, added my reply in bold

I had the same/similar problem.
When inspecting the group via maintenance, I noticed only the last lamp of a group of 6 was selected. I tried recreating the group, same result. After hitting save in maintenance, all were now working as expected, instead of only the last of the group.

This may be a solution for people having the same problem, or a starting point of finding the cause.

Thanks for the information @Thijs_Teunissen

How many hue lights have you got?

I wouldn’t expect to see a problem like this when working via a hue hub - so long as there is a healthy hue mesh. The only place I have seen this occur with Hue is in my backyard as there is a bit of a hop for commands to get out there.

What happens if you create a new group and sub/out the light which doesnt work with another light… So you still see the group dropping off a single light?

Hey @J.W_Hoogervorst can you please just confirm - so creating a group and devices were not being added correctly but when you repaired the group it did save all the devices?

@Jamie I have 22 hue lights and 2 outlets. They are over 2 floors and 5 rooms.
I’ve never seen issues with any of the lights before, also when controlling scenes or rooms from the Hue app itself nothing like this has ever happened.
