[APP][Pro] Eufy Security

@HvN

On 21-01-2024 i created the self-hosted option as a extra solution next to the hosted service i provided.
The snapshot was always a experimental solution (and still is) because Homey is not powerful enough to process streams. I can’t provide a reliable solution, current and the previous.

Next to that it took a lot of support form my side to help out with the snapshots as
it’s really a black box. That makes it almost impossible help users who are facing issues with snapshots. Currently the snapshots are far more reliable (yes I saw what you said) and I don’t get that much support questions anymore.

I understand you would like to see it differently, but for me it would be a real drawback to add this again.

PS: Some context on why I’m hesitant to bring back the (self-)hosted snapshot feature:

In the background, I’ve been working on a new Eufy app for several months. Progress has been slow, and it’s still uncertain whether I’ll be able to get it fully working.

Eufy is moving entirely to their new 5-in-1 app, and as a result, I’m currently spending all of my available Homey development time on adapting to those changes. Sooner or later, the current integration will stop working.

Because of that, support for new devices cannot be added at the moment, and advanced power-user features such as self-hosted snapshots are unlikely to return. Given the uncertainty around the future of the current integration, I don’t think it would be a good use of the limited development time available.

Unfortunately, I don’t see a bright long-term future for the current app in its present form.
(Athom is aware of the situation.)

Hi @martijnpoppen ,

I have taken everything you told me into consideration, especially the uncertainty regarding future support and the amount of time and effort required to keep everything working through reverse engineering. I understand that this is not an easy task, and that is the main reason why I am considering a different brand.

This decision has nothing to do with your apps or the dedication and effort you put into maintaining them every day. As you know, I truly appreciate everything you do and the support you provide.

I mainly use the system to monitor my front door and make sure everything is okay, especially since I also have a smart lock installed. Having a reliable solution for that is very important to me.

I will still continue using the app for my backyard camera, as I currently have no plans to replace it. Reolink does not really offer a suitable replacement for that particular camera in terms of design and features.

So, I’m hoping it will continue to work well for at least a few more years. If it does, I’ll be more than happy to keep using it together with your app.

Many thanks!

Hi, I added my Eufy Homebase 3 and a few Cams to Homey. I have done all I can and followed all instructions, but still unable to view the live feed through Homey. will show loading livestream and an error video stopped, have not been able to in any of the cameras. Not sure what could cause this, but I have set up multiple second eufy admin accounts, but no success, and created a diagnostic report . This is the log. Hope I can get some help here. b2014b40-38de-4a93-a387-951edb206419

**Eufy mode changes do not appear in Homey timeline (HomeBase 3)
**
I’m trying to synchronize my Ajax alarm system and Eufy Security through Homey Pro, but I’m running into something I don’t understand.

When I change the security mode of my Eufy HomeBase 3 from within Homey (Home, Away, etc.), the HomeBase changes mode correctly, so that part works.

However, I don’t see any Eufy events in the Homey timeline. Not when I change the mode from the Eufy app, and not even when I change the mode from Homey itself.

For comparison, my Ajax alarm events do show up in the Homey timeline without any issues.

My expectation was that when the Eufy mode changes, Homey would at least generate a timeline event or trigger that could be used in flows and for troubleshooting.

Is this expected behavior?
Are Eufy mode changes and events currently supported by the Homey app?
Or am I missing a configuration setting somewhere?

My goal is to keep Ajax and Eufy synchronized, but at the moment it’s difficult to see what is actually happening because there are no Eufy events visible in Homey.

Thanks for any help or clarification!

Martijn,

Thanks for your reply.

I’ve checked all the settings you mentioned.

  • Country is set to Portugal.
  • Notifications for mode changes are enabled on the HomeBase.
  • Push notifications are enabled on the cameras.
  • Homey can control the HomeBase without any issues.

What I don’t understand is that I don’t see any Eufy events in Homey.

If I change the HomeBase mode from Homey, the HomeBase switches correctly.
If I change the mode from the Eufy app, it also switches correctly.

In both situations I don’t get any event in the Homey timeline.

For comparison: my Ajax alarm events do show up in the Homey timeline, so I know the timeline itself is working.

My goal is to synchronize Ajax and Eufy through Homey, but at the moment I can’t see whether Homey is actually receiving any Eufy events.

Is it expected that HomeBase mode changes do not appear in the Homey timeline, or should they normally generate events?

Thanks!

@Carlos_Luchmun please send a diagnostic report after reproducing the issue

And no the Homebase doesn’t not put events in the timeline, but you can see it on the sensors page if it was changed or make a flow base on ‘security mode was changed’

Hi @martijnpoppen i bought several eufy cams also the E42 solo cam, if you need an tester please let me know if I can help you even in the Dutch language :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

@Nelson1976 thanks, however it’s not possible to add these devices add the moment [APP][Pro] Eufy Security - #5 by martijnpoppen

Hi Martijn,

I did some more testing.

I created a simple test flow that only executes:

  • Set HomeBase security mode to Away
  • Create a Homey notification

The flow executes successfully (green check marks) and I even receive a Eufy push notification saying the HomeBase switched to Away mode.

However, when I open the Eufy app afterwards, the HomeBase is still in Home mode and the mode was not actually changed.

One additional observation: the behaviour seems to depend on the current state and whether the Eufy app has recently been opened. This makes me think there may be a state synchronization issue between Homey, the Eufy cloud and the HomeBase.

So the action reports success, but the HomeBase does not actually change mode.

I’ll provide diagnostics as well.

I reproduced the issue and submitted a diagnostic report.

Diagnostic ID:
87c63bba-bb25-46c1-9ad2-727f2a5f823f

@Carlos_Luchmun isee the issue, homey and your eufy Homebase can’t find each other locally

It tries a cloud connection but that fails can you make sure homey and the Homebase are in the same local network and can reach each other.

The command sends but then fails. Best connection is local
The eufy homey app uses local connection for commands and cloud for receiving updates

Thanks for checking.

I moved the Eufy HomeBase to the same subnet as Homey.

Homey: 192.168.10.78

HomeBase: 192.168.10.37

The problem remains exactly the same.

- Ajax triggers are received by Homey.

- Homey flows execute successfully.

- The Eufy action reports success.

- Eufy logs an event saying the mode was changed.

- However, the actual security mode on the HomeBase never changes.

So the issue still occurs even when both devices are on the same local network.

@Carlos_Luchmun please send a new report

@Carlos_Luchmun can you try a homey and a Homebase restart and then send a new report
Then were sure it creates a fresh connection

Eufy is sometimes rejecting until you restart the device.

Did the restart of the Homey and Homebase. ID: e2f399c2-058f-40a0-9212-5971420f7032

@Carlos_Luchmun your Homebase seems to change IP’s

192.168.10.36 And 192.168.10.37

Can you make it fixed/static?

It is static now and restarted homebase and homey also the Eufy app
