[APP][Pro] Duux - Take full control of your indoor air quality

The folks over at Home Assistant found that the device uses MQTT-over-TLS, which can be intercepted: Experience integrating Duux products? - #27 by hamido - Third party integrations - Home Assistant Community

Also, Duux devices that use Tuya can be hardware-modified to enable local control using ESPHome (I did that with my Duux Whisper Flex yesterday).

But both solutions aren’t exactly trivial.

I am so super disappointed that my new Whisper Flex 2 is not supporting Homey anymore. Shame on you. I don’t understand why you are dropping the support for Homey and then don’t offer a replacement like Matter… Guys it’s 2025!

Duux jumped on the Tuya train.
Produced cheaply and sold expensively.

If you get the Tuya community app running, you should be able to integrate the device via Tuya cloud.

Actually they jumped off it. Their old V1 products used Tuya, their new devices are built on top of a new platform that they build themselves

Sure? I have a Duux Threesixty heater V2 and that uses Tuya. The V1 was Homey compatible.

I reached out to Duux as I found conflicting information on whether the Duux app for Homey still works with Duux devices.

Duux indicated the following:

  • The current Duux app for Homey is specifically and only made for devices that are based on the 'Duux (Gen1) App’ smart platform. For example the current ‘North’ series of airconditioners. On their website these models als tagged as such;

  • The current Duux app for Homey still works with those devices;

  • The Duux app for Homey is not maintained anymore by Duux. This means that it won’t get any updates/fixes;

  • Duux and Athom are looking at whether Athom can take over the maintenance of the current Duux app. Again, only for continued support of the Gen1 devices;

  • Finally, Duux’s Gen1 smart platform is based on Tuya.

You mean Gen2 is Tuya, right?

The Gen 1 products are Tuya based, the Gen 2 products are built on top of an internally developed platform by Duux

All correct besides from the fact that, next to the Gen 1 app, we are also in touch about developing an app for the Gen 2 devices!

I don’t know about other generations, but Gen 1 is Tuya. This was their actual response (in Dutch) to my question whether Gen 1 is Tuya based:

As far as i did understand from the email i did get from Duux it was original a local based app.
Now they have changed it to a wifi cloud based device from another brand.

This was the email i get.
It is in Dutch.

Also locally controlled devices can be Tuya based. As I understand several (older?) Tuya WiFi-based devices can be controlled both via a local API as via the cloud. It depends on the firmware of the device. There is even a Tuya community app that allows local control of some specific/a limted set of Tuya WiFi-devices.
