[APP][Pro] Amazon Echo - Looking for testers and contributors

amazon.com.br

First of all, thank you very much for this app! It works perfectly with my Echo Dot.

I also have a Bose Soundbar 700 with integrated Amazon Alexa functionality. Is there any way to integrate this device into your app?

I have a problem when I try to set up my connection. In the end, I get sent to a page that doesn’t exist on the Amazon site (and it shows me dogs).

Hi,

is it possible or planned to link multiple Amazon accounts?

kind regards

Chris

Hi. Is your problem fixed? I get the same issue. I think it has something to do with Amazon changing the authentification protocol. The creator needs to push an update (I think) Please let me know.

Dear Stefan I have been using your app with no issues until last week. The hiccups started earlier though with red exclamation marks on every device (and I have a ton of them) but the app was in good running condition so I paid no minds. However one day I decided to uninstall and re-install your app. Bad decision :frowning: Now I am unable to login. I am able to input my username and password but Amazon wants to me to copy paste the code they send and I get stuck at that stage with the Amazon ā€œerror dogsā€ greeting me. I adore dogs but nowadays I get annoyed seeing them on my screen  Any chance that Amazon changed something in their end? Also any chance you can please push an update to fix this? I really look forward to your reply as I am unable to use any of my ā€œflowsā€ associated to Echo devices. Thank you and have a great day.

To my knowledge this is an issue with how you have the 2FA setup for your account. To quote from the other Alexa apps FAQ:

IF you have MFA turned on, and your connecting the app may show a ā€˜page not found’ error page.
Solution: you must go into your Amazon account via web browser and enable 2 factor authentication. Then use an authenticator such as Google Authenticator, problem solved. Use the code that comes through the authenticator app, not the one that Amazon texts to you. Hope this helps.

I will still try update the underlying library but from the changelogs it does not seam like there were any changes to something that relates to authentication. So my advice would be to check your 2FA settings.

I released version 1.1.2 as a test preview which updates the alexa-remote2 dependency to the latest version. Probably will push it live in the next few days.

I have enabled the 2 factor authentification after seeing your advice in another thread or post. My problem is solved  Thanks so much. The app is back to its full capacity…

Hi everyone,

Has anyone else run into authentication issues with the Homey Pro app recently? I started seeing red exclamation marks on all my Echo devices, and resetting would briefly clear them—only for them to return shortly afterward.

So, I uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Now I can enter my username and password, but it doesn’t allow me to input the Amazon passcode it sends. (Weirdly, I don’t have two-factor authentication enabled.) Instead, I’m immediately greeted with the Amazon ā€œdogsā€ — an error message — and can’t proceed.

Has anyone experienced this? How did you resolve it?

If there’s no fix yet, is there an alternative app that supports full functionality for Echo devices that others have successfully used?

Why not use the app topic

or the issue tracker

I always get confused about the correct location of my inquiries. Sorry about that. However you did steer me to the right direction where I just seeeked help from the creator himself. Hopefully he will extend a ā€œhelping handā€

I solved it by activating the 2fa option in my Amazon account as suggested.

Yes, I mentioned in the other post that Peter Kawa pointed me in the right direction, and I did the same. Really glad this worked out, since I rely heavily on Echo devices in my flows. What makes me even happier is that it also cleared the red exclamation marks on all my Echo devices. I’m a happy camper now!

hi, my echo’s werent workimg with homey either since a few days/weeks and thought i could solve it by activating 2FA in amazon - as suggested. Didt help. Keeps trying to open a local adress on port 3081 which fails every time.

Also tried it with ver.1.1.2 withe the same outcome.

Betwen every try i reset the config of the app and restarted the app…but no luck so far.

Trried it on multiple browsers and multiple clients (debian/win/android)

Checked dns and firewall settings on my infrastructure- both turned out to be fine.

Any tipps would ne much appreciated.

Regards,

Hi Stefan,

I am in the US and am running Amazon Echo v1.1.1 on Homey Pro v12.7.0. The Echo app has been working for several months with only a few self correcting timeout errors every day or two.

Around 11 hours ago I started getting ā€œunauthorized user or serial numberā€ errors. I recovered once early this morning by restarting the app. Now that doesn’t work. I tried resetting the connection and now when I try to connect I get ā€œAmazon Echo Proxy Server could not be initialized. Check logs.ā€ My Echos all still work as Alexa devices and with the Homey Alexa feature.

What logs? Simple (Sys) Log simply contains the error message. Do you have any suggestions?

Thank you!

Update - it is working again. What I think I did:

  1. Reset Amazon Echo app in mobile (Android) app
  2. Connect to Amazon server in web (PC) app

Inverting either or both of the above did not work.

Hi I am having trouble resetting my honey. I am on iOS 18.6. When I try to reset on my phone app and then go to web page. Like Greg did. It still does not work. I get the error message proxy server can not initialize, see logs.

Update. Finally got it connected again

What did you do to make it work?
