I had to start using Node Red to manage Home Automation, so I could use the 100+ Hue devices because of this issue
To be able to control Homey from Node Red I setup a MQTT Broker, then used the Homey App MQTT Client and the great MQTT Hub.
Because I was using that I played with Zigbee2MQTT, and boy oh boy that made me sooooo happy.
Homey still does the stuff I can’t do yet in NR, Eufy Cams & Vacs, the Zappi and a few other things.
I would have preferred to run all on Homey - it would have been quicker and easier and certainly without having to go through a HUGE learning curve, but I wasn’t willing to replace all my Hue lights and sensors, with something that doesn’t crash Homey and Homey was unwilling to fix the Hue app so forced to look for other solutions.
But, for all the work it took I would not go back, everything is so easy and so powerful.
Without Homey I would never have gotten into flashing Sonoff devices to Tasmota, or Node Red or MQTT and the greatest loss zigbee2MQTT.
So thank you Homey for making me uncomfortable enough to find a better way
I am running it all on a Mac Mini M1 which also runs TV, DVR, Plex, Music Library etc.
Hi guys. I have such problem. I have connected Livarno 2m led strip from Lidl to Philips Hue bridge and using this app to connect it to Homey. My problem is that when I operate it via Homey (change brightness, color, turn on off) the light always blinks brighter/ darker every time do you also have this with Lidl strip? In Philips Hue app it behaves fine.
This is probably a basic question that should have an easy answer, but: how to I add my Hue Bridge to Homey Pro 2023? I’ve installed my Hue Bridge today, added my Hue lamps to the Hue Bridge, and now I want to add the bridge to Homey Pro, so I’ll be able to controle my lamps with Homey as well.
I read online that you have to use the Philips Hue app and then add the bridge, but when adding a device from the list the only options are “movement sensor, dimmer switch, dimmer switch 2, lamp, module, plug, smart button, sync box, tap or tap dial”. I don’t see any option to add the hue bridge. How should I go about this? I hope someone can help.
Yes, I’m using the right one. The one that’s just called Philips Hue with the yellow Hue logo. Also, when viewing the app page, the bridge does not show up either as a supported device.
Thank you Robert. Another, possibly stupid, question. How do I let Homey find my lamps? They are connected to the Hue Bridge. When I go to the Hue app in the Homey app, try to add a lamp, it does not detect lamps. Should the lamps be set in some kind of pairing mode?
EDIT: I think I may know what the problem is. Homey Pro is on my guest network, instead of on my primary network. The Philips Hue is directly connected to the router and is therefore not on my guest network. I should therefore change the WiFi network of the Homey Pro. However, I do not see an option to do so in the app. When looking on the website of Homey, it says the homey should be put in recovery mode by putting it upside down. That, however, does not seem to work and may be a solution for a previous Homey Pro. Do you know how I should change that?
EDIT 2: I see I have to put a pin in the bottom of the Homey Pro, I’ll try that!
EDIT 3: Even though I have an iPhone pin, that looks the same as on the instruction, the Homey won’t go into recovery mode. Is there an alternative?
What version Hue Bridge? Probably v2. It might be worth, in Hue phone app, performing a clean. It’s in settings. Each Hue bridge can support up to a maximum of 50 devices so when you say approx. 50…how many? And do you have any other hue devices connected
According to Philips Hue it’s 50 lights and 12 accessories, so if you have 55 lights somehow, that might be causing trouble. I would suggest a second bridge and divide your stuff. Homey is great in that it can be logged into several bridges at once, unlike the Hue Phone app
