[APP] Philips Hue - Transform the way you experience light

Correct me if Im wrong, but if I have the Hue bridge connected to Homey and have all the lights and accessories in Hue, then it is still possible to use the dial ring through Hue for dimming the lights right, and next to that use buttons to activate flows through Homey, as the device will be appearing in Homey as well as in Hue?

Yes that is possible. You can trigger something in the Hue app and then still trigger something in Homey at the same time.

I have installed 2 Philips HUE bridges due to amount of HUE devices. In the Philips HUE app you have to switch between the 2 switches. At this moment I create scenes in the HUE app and activate them through Google Home.
I now want to pre-order the Homey pro (2023) also to connect other smart devices like Sonos, Google Home etc. and I have seen in the FAQ that adding multiple HUE bridges is simple. But does this mean that you don’t have to switch between the HUE bridges with Homey? In other words can I activate scenes and devices on HUE bridge 1 and 2 simultaneously on one command through Homey?

Yes no problem. Adding the devices in Homey you have to add your devices the first time from bridge 1 and also add from bridge 2x. After this you can control them as you want.

Hi,
Im just wondering if it would not be possibile to introduce also double or triple tap for buttons in this App to have even more possibilities with the switches and Dimmer. This functionality could be like in the App Hue Essentials in the Apple Appstore or Playstore for Android.
Is this maybe planned or somehow not possible?
Thanks a lot if someone is more into the development.
Greetings
Roland

Looks like the ā€long pressā€ of a button on tap dial are just multiple click events. Any idea how to trigger on those?
Would probably need to set a click counter and count if there is more than one click within 5 seconds or so.

What I’m lookimg for is to be able to detect if someone wanted to turn the lights off - default tap dial behaviour.

Would be nice if the app handled the long press events.

I’ve given up on the Homey Hue app. My Homey (2016) was becoming a pain to use, constantly losing its connection to the app, throwing errors or freezing for like 10 seconds when I clicked on a setting. I tried removing all other non-essential apps, but nothing worked. Then I removed the Hue app and now the Homey is responsive again. I had 60 Hue accessories added to it, but as I control Hue through HomeKit most of the time, it was relatively painless to give it up. The Hue lights respond quicker now too, it seems.

There are flows that take a lot of RAM from homey and I had that issue too. Maybe I am switching to directly using my zigbee devices with the new homey as all my Gledopto lights have bugs with that homey hue app. But as for now I still need hue for my hue entertainment zones

I have been building and testing alternatives.

Pretty much locked into removing as much as I can from Homey to free resources for it to manage the devices that I cannot control elsewhere.

With the Homey MQTT Hub and potentially Homey MQTT Broker, and put Node Red over everything.

There are loads of plugins to Node Red that will allow me to run devices directly, so Hue lights and sensors can be taken off Homey.

It has been fun getting into flashing Sonoff devices with Tasmota to connected to MQTT.

Really pleased to be able use Homey to host my next gen home automation.

Anyone else have continuous disconnects and have to restart the Hue app for it to work again?

I either get API timeout or the Hue app crashes.
Need to restart it every ~30min for it to work reliable…

Running app v5.9.0 on Homey Pro.

Sorry but no. I had problems with Hue disconnecting from Homey when I changed my WiFi and cabled networks, had to figure out a few settings in UniFi but has been grand since. Have you made any other changes?

No problem with Philips hue overhere. Never had

I’ve had…

  1. the Hue devices disconnecting from Homey regularly
  2. the Homey disconnecting from the Homey mobile app
  3. the Homey taking up to 20-30 seconds to respond on Homey mobile app / Homey web app
  4. the Hue hub becoming slow (3-5 seconds) to respond to actions (from wall switches or HomeKit commands for instance)

This was with 65 Hue accessories connected to one Hue hub.

Now that I’ve uninstalled the Athom Hue app from my Homey, everything runs smoothly again. I can live with not having Hue devices controllable through Homey.

After working with Athom support, we found restating the Athom Philips Hue App every 6 hours or have Homey run slow, become unreachable, and ultimately crash.

If only i had to restart every 6hours it would be an ok solution, but as of now it’s almost every 30minutes to be able to keep the devices online :frowning:

Uggggh

Using this app for most of my lights and some switches. Also using it for my Hue sync box but for that item I miss many options that can be set in the Hue app itself.

  • Choose entertainment room
  • Sync on/off
  • Sync toggle
  • Sync mode
  • Intensity settings
  • Background lighting

I hope these options can and will be added by Athom in a future release.

Thanks

anyone else also has issues with the syncbox ?
migrated to the new Homey Pro but i cant select the inputs in the Sync box…
field stays empty …
it is possible to do it manually in homey using the tile , so the functionality is there

This is also an issue with the latest Homey pro 2023.

If i disable the Hue app the Homey and app is usable.
If i keep the Hue app enabled, everything is lagging and the app is force closing multiple times and are unusable…
