[APP] IKEA Kajplats over Zigbee

Hi all!

I recently bought the new IKEA Kajplats E27 bulbs. Since the matter of thread range was too limited for me, I paired them with Zigbee. Unfortunately it got recognised as smart switch and not a light bulb, meaning that dimming and color temperature was not working.

So I created a very simple app that allows to control Kajplats bulbs over Zigbee. If anyone is interested in this, you can find the test version below. Keep in mind I’ve only tested with the Kajplats E27 white spectrum lights, since that’s the only type I own. If there is a lot of interest I can see if support can be extended.

Have you asked the IKEA app developer to add support for the device to their app?

I don’t want to put down your efforts, but it seems silly to have a separate app for one specific device when there’s already an app available for the brand itself.

You’re right! Since the app was very quick and easy to spin up I did it to unblock my issue and use my new bulbs, but on the long term it could definitely be integrated in the IKEA app.

I dropped a message to Athom to see if there’s any interest to support Zigbee. I would be very happy to abandon this app in favour of that :wink:
