I have a Homey-pro with a flow:
If alarm = 7:00, mo, tu, th, fr then screen up
This typically works fine, except when the Homey-pro received an update, then the alarm does not trigger. Afte restarting the Homey-pro the alarm works again.
Anybody know why alarms do not trigger after a software update?
More interestingly: how can I keep my alarms working after a software update?
Many things don’t work properly after a software update, you typically have to take Homey off power for a few moments when it has been updated to make it work again.
Disable automatic updates and perform them manually so you can do the power cycling afterwards.
But this “phenomenon” exists here when I bought a Pro 2019 back in 2020, and it “happily” continues with my Pro 2026.
Unfortunately a firmware update initiated soft reboot isn’t always sufficient;
Plus, a firmware update can’t establish the occasional needed hard reboot (cutting the power for several minutes).
When Honey issues like this occur for so many years, the verdict by Athom is (as shown for the last 6y):
Unsolvable, Not Interested or Don’t Care.
Therefore I manage firmware/app updates myself (we get notified @ timeline)
New toys always get prioritised somehow. Now it’s something with zones, tomorrow it’s something with EMS.
In case Homey’s firmware gets updated, it will reboot Homey itself. Apps also get updated automatically, in that case only the app will restart after an update
Alarm was not inteded to be available for Homey 2023, maybe because it not have a speaker, but many users raised that it was mostly used for starting flows so Athom put it back. Maybe there was not so much focus on developing Alarm functionality?
I do controlled system updating as suggested by @robertklep . I have turned automatic updating off and start updating when nothing else happening, often on saturday before noon.
After system update every app is starting up and depending of hardware and number of apps it will take some time. I think my Homey Pro 2023 are finished in just a few minutes but to be safe I wait 15 minutes before counting on that everything is up and running.
Some apps can struggle after system update and therefore I have flow restarting the apps after the 15 minutes. For example the app Power by the hour.
What’s your problem is hard to say? Are your alarms starting flows using any apps?
