Zigbee broken? Homey Pro 2019

Hi,

My Zigbee plugs has stopped responding the last week. I have restarted my router, Homey (both restart and a few PTP more than 2 hours). It started with the Hue without Bridge not responding (the Outdoor Sensors), which I usually need to restart a few times/day. But then all other Aqara, Nous etc plugs are not responding on ON/OFF commands. I can see my Zigbee network in the Dev-tools but I have no idea how to see if the devices or network are healthy (Like you can measure TX Errors in the Z-wave network). Is it possible to see somehow if Homeys own Zigbee “antenna” is broken?

Thanks!

Hi Pat,

The first things you can do

  1. Change the power brick for a decent one, like a Samsung charger or Ipad charger. Replace the USB cable as well.
(The original power brick could degrade over time, it outputs lower voltages, causing weird issues)
  2. If step 1.) doesn’t make a difference, install the “full software download”. This installs Homey firmware from scratch and solved weird zigbee issues.
Start Homey in Recovery Mode to proceed.

Here’s an excellent how-to:

Thanks Peter, I will try the full software download.
I have switched to an iPad charger and cable a few years ago, which improved most things.

I guess, running the Full Software download will not remove any of my existing devices and flows? That is critical.

One observation is that in Developer tools/devices I can see (haven’t checked all Zigbee devices) that one of the “corrupt” devices is:

|Ready|Yes|
|Available|Yes|
|Warning|No|

Also under Capabilities, Last changed the values has changed 25 min ago, 11 hours ago, 2 hours ago. So there is some weak existence there.
Also, I noticed that instead of clicking On/Off in Homey UI, which will fail (timeout), If I run a flow with On/Off it will execute correctly - but it takes like 1 minute.

Thanks!

No problem, Pat.

My bad, I should’ve mention is doesn’t affect anything you added / created.
But as always, having a backup at hand is always a very good idea.

I can’t say anything useful about the other issues.
Do you use zigbee router devices from INNR, Osram or Ikea lights?

Hi again,

I only use Aqara, Nous and 2 Hue outdoor sensors. They all run in Homey’s Zigbee.
I have a lot of Hue lights but they are running via the Hue hub.
I will try the Full software download and let you know the result!

Hmmm, tried reseting it. But it had problems with connecting the Homey network to my existing network 2 times, now it will not send out the HomeySetup-XXXXXX anymore. If I pull the plug on Homey now to try get it to use HomeySetup-XXXXXX will I be able to reset Homey and then get the Full Software download including my backup or will Homey “die” totally now if I PTP?!

Pheeew, was a bit worried there… OK - PTP restarted Homey and its up and running. I will (maybe) try to reset it to get the Full SW DL but right now I’m too scared ha ha…
