Any idea whether the Netatmo Smart AC Controller will ever be supported? It’s been on the market for quite a while but no news on this so far and it’s not listed for the official Netatmo app.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t included in the Netatmo API last time we checked. So there currently is no way to interface with the device.
Thanks for the reply - not what I would have liked to hear, but it explains why it’s not supported. I guess I’ll be checking out alternatives then. Unfortunately, Tado is preventing Version 3 devices from co-existing with X devices (I have an X thermostat) under one account, so that one isn’t an option, either.
Which AC unit are you trying to control? It’s possible that Homey already has an integration for it.
It’s a dumb split unit with an infrared remote, unfortunately
Fortunately, Homey has built-in IR functionality, so you can search the IR database anytime. Just open the Homey app and navigate to: New Device → Infrared.
Just FYI, please do realize both the tado and Netatmo IR remotes only work with A/C units remotes which come with an informational display
And if Homey is in a different room than the air con, then one of this works just fine:
Ours ran on Tados before, but Tado is phasing version 3 products out and they can’t co-exist with Tado X products. So in order to install the new thermostats, I had to get rid of the Smart AC Controllers (which had been flaky for a while now anyway). That’s why I’m looking for an alternative. As for IR: AFAIK our Chinese-made AC units aren’t supported by Homey Pro.
Hi all,
I’m using jeedom (French home automation brand) and am able to control the AC netatmo controllers with just a plug-in named Netatmo Energie.
Here is the documentation to their plug-in configuration if it helps:
https://limad.github.io/plugins-docs/plugin-naEnergie/fr_FR/
They support the AC controllers since July 2023.
I would like to migrate to homey pro but my AC have to be supported; I’ll wait
The AC controller is now supported by the Netatmo API, and we’re in the process of adding full support for Homey. You’ll see it available soon™
That’s great news,
Thank you !
just a tricky question though:
When you’re saying “soon” it’s about days, weeks, months ?
This is a well hidden secret, but it has been days, weeks and even months.
Equivalent of
“It is finished when it’s finished”.
Ok, let’s be patient, so
Our philosophy is beautifully captured by this quote: “A wizard is never late, nor is he early. He arrives precisely when he means to.”
