What use case for Homey Bridge?

I was considering buying a Homey bridge to cover my garage which is 20 m away from my Homey Pro, too far for zigbee devices to reach but, if I understand correctly, the bridge doesn’t deserve its name since it doesn’t “bridge” zigbee and zwave signals from Homey Pro but serves as another repeater.
So, why would anyone buy a Homey Bridge ? For what use ?

Bridge IR/RF.

Originally it was used to bridge local radio protocols to a Homey cloud instance.
So it seems you assumed a bit to much.

  • Homey = Homey Cloud / Premium or such, which runs @ Athom servers
  • Homey Pro = a real device, with 2016-2019, and 2023 models.

So this info is about a Homey Cloud bridge:

This info about the Pro 2023 is not exactly true:

The real info for Homey Pro bridge functionality is to be found at the KB with searchphrase “satellite”:

That’s what I surmised. Athom should provide a real bridge via WiFi for all the supported protocols

Here’s a quote from Emile, Oct 20th, 2022:

Keep on requesting this feature @ homey.app/support I’d say.

Why not go for zigbee2mqtt + (W)LAN zigbee dongle. It’s all there, way less $$ than a Homey bridge

Zigbee2mqtt might solve half the problem since I also need a zwave bridge (though zwave does extend to the garage most of the time).
I’ll search the forum for a ‘how to’ configure the sonoff ZigBee adaptor with Homey.
Thanks for the hint
