What is best practice transferring from Bridge to Pro?

Hi there,

I have a setup, made about 4 years ago. Building from the Ikea Tradfri gateway with a Google home puck to a Homey Bridge and about a years ago all devices went blanc on all the hubs. I think it was because the Ikea hub stopped working, so I set up a new Ikea Dirigera hub, but had to re-install all devices on all hubs again. But in the Homey bridge all devices are still looking for a connection to the Tradfri hub for the lighting and still have to be re-installed (again).

I still haven’t done this, I still can control some devices via Google Home, but now I have invested in a new Homey Pro. I could still use the Homey Bridge, but have opted for a Pro, so that all devices run local and not in the cloud anymore. (I had a few times that the Internet was down with my provider and I could’t control the lights, camera’s etc).

But what is best practice.
Install the Homey Pro and see if it can connect to all the separate devices automatically again, or install from a blanc Homey setup. And do I still need to re-install the Google Home puck, and the Ikea Dirigera hub to control everything? Yes after 4 years not actively tinkering with my Home automations I’m back at the newbie stadia. I guess I need the Google home setup for the voice commands, that we still use daily, but am not sure about
the Ikea hub.

For the experience and gaining the enthousiasm that I had in building my set-up 4 years ago I would guess to start from blanc. So I guess I have provided my own answer already, but do I still need the Ikea Hub and Google Home (for voice command) or does Homey Pro encapsulate all their functions in one. And is Google Home still a/the preferred methode for giving voice commands?

So I guess I have answered my main question, I will go for a blanc startup and build up again, and have as much fun in building as a few years back, but have the Ikea Hub and Google Home question still open.

Kind regards, Rob

You can’t migrate from Homey Cloud/Bridge to Homey Pro, so you would have to pair everything manually.

You don’t need the IKEA hub, Homey Pro can connect to IKEA devices directly.
