Users and presance combined with dashboard

Hi all,

I now have an amazing dashboard setup which I am starting to really like (to see it check this post Showcase your Dashboard - #177 by kvn)

But what I now did is a created a separate iPad user as when I logged in with my own I see the following potential issues:

  • The iPad in the home (that everyone can reach) can change everything
  • The iPad is always at home so I cannot work with presence detection.

So my question would be is there a better way to do this as the iPad is now a person in all my dashboard and web app.

Possible solutions could be

  • Hide a user (I think that’s not possible)
  • Login with my wife’s account but somehow do presence a different way than via the app?

Anyhow need some tips moving forward.

My Homey arrives with Christmas, so I can only speculate,
But from a programmers perspective,

Can’t you start a flow when someone leaves home?
Based on that create an integer thats called people at home, that starts at 2/3? Don’t know how many people use Homey at your place.

And once it reaches 0 set Homey manually to Away, or is that not possible?
And ofcourse the reverse flow, when someone enters the house increase the integer by one.

Could be but if i use my iPad as a shared user. would homey still be able to notice if I leave or not.

Or even simpler (don’t know if its possible)
Opt the iPad out of pressence detection?
Whats the use of it on the iPad to begin with? Since its stuck to your wall.

Yes what i now did is removed the iPad user. logged in with my wife’s account (which does not have all rights) And excluded it from presence detection.

Should be the way to go for now.

But I’m failing to see the point why you would need to use your wife’s account?
Why not exclude the dedicated iPad account?
