I am interested in the Lafaër presence detector. I was aware that it is not compatible with my Homey Pro early 2019 version, but it appeared via the menu “add device” in the list of devices to be added, so I ordered one, just to find out that the moment I try to add it returns an error message “missing required feature” '(ie Thread over Matter support). So why show it in the list of devices? Since my Homey is working flawlessly, I am not considering upgrading it, so I have two options: trying to get the device to work via a work-around or just resell it to an owner of a more recent version of the Homey Pro. When I try to add the Lafaër sensor to my network via Apple or Google Home, I get the error message: you need a Thread border router. Did anyone try to connect Matter over Thread devices to the Homey Pro using an Aqara M100 or SmartThings Station as an intermediary hub?
You won’t be able to get this working with intermediary hubs, since those will still require Matter to be able to communicate with the device, which your Homey doesn’t support.
Thanks!
I have been reading a few more topics and I think I am not missing much re Matter over Thread: see discussion on Aqara FP300 of the limitations of the Matter connection vs the Zigbee connection. Unfortunately, the Lafaër sensor does not offer the Zigbee connection option.
