The Aqara Thermostat E1 won't connect to Homey Pro (2023)

Hello dear community,

I’ve been using a Homey Pro (2023) for a few weeks now and am generally satisfied with it. I recently purchased an Aqara Thermostat E1 and successfully added it; the setup worked flawlessly. Now I wanted to add another thermostat (the same device), but unfortunately, it’s failing:

  • I add the device in the Homey app. I put the thermostat into pairing mode.
  • The thermostat is detected and added according to the app
  • The thermostat exits pairing mode
  • I get an error message saying the thermostat couldn’t be added and that I should try again
  • In the process, I also noticed that the already set up thermostat is no longer responding. I reset it and now can’t add it either.

A few details about my setup: I use several Zigbee outlets (IKEA), which I unplugged as a test, but that didn’t help either. I placed the thermostat right next to the Homey Pro. I’ve also tried different batteries in the thermostat.

Does anyone have experience with this or any ideas about what might be causing it?
