Tapo Solar Panel Camera - Homey Integration

Hi everyone :waving_hand:

I currently have two Tapo solar panel cameras: TC82 and C425.

I was wondering if anyone has managed to integrate these models with Homey in any way.
Since they are battery/solar powered, I’m not sure if there are limitations compared to wired cameras.

Any help or experience would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance :folded_hands:

Those are not supported by Homey. The Tapo solar/battery cameras do not support RTSP (which is required to integrate with other ecosystems like Homey). This is to prevent external applications from draining the battery. Therefore, you can’t integrate them in Homey.

The Tapo hardwired cameras do support this RTSP feature, and you are able to integrate those with Homey. The only battery-powered cameras I know of that are supported by Homey are the Eufy cameras, but those can be pricey.

Thank you! I was a bit unsure because I’m able to integrate these Tapo cameras with Alexa. On Alexa, I can view the camera feed on my Echo Show, so I thought that somehow it might also be possible to achieve something similar through Homey.

No, Alexa and Google Home have specific partnerships with TP-Link that use other protocols. The Tapo mobile app uses a proprietary P2P protocol to show the camera stream which Homey can’t use.
