Tapo camera

Just received the info that Taco camera’s are supported in Homey Pro. I installed, direct connection, but ‘live’ view is not working. See added print screen. Did I forgot something? How to finetune? Thanks for your quick reply? PS the camera installed as IP virtual is working fine (but than no cards)

The RTSP format is incorrect in the part before the IP address, Carlo.

rtsp://username:password@camera_IP_adres:554/arguments

Yours has two @ signs in it… because you have an email address as your username:
carlo.veraart@lerocal.eu:Veraart%401@camera_IP_adres:554

The simplest solution, as far as I know, is to change or create a new username such as ‘carlov’ or ‘carloveraart’ or something similar.
Do not use ‘@’ or ‘:’ in the name or password.

You need to create a local camera account in the Tapo app (Advanced Settings in the Tapo app)

You can’t use your TP-Link ID for the RTSP stream

What about this odd rtsp/h26x://user:pass@..... format, @smarthomesven ,
instead of rtsp://user:pass@....
will that ever work?

I don’t know, it seems like that wouldn’t work. I only have a Tapo camera on Surveillance Station on a Synology, my Homey Pro 2019 doesn’t support camera streaming so I can’t test it myself.

But it looks like the email address is a TP-Link ID (account) login, which won’t work since the RTSP stream of the Tapo camera requires creating a local “Camera account“ in the Tapo mobile app

I get “Invalid URL” when using this format: rtsp/h26x://username:password@cameraIP:554/args

Plus having 2 @ in the user:pass@ part won’t work anyway.

The Tapo camera uses port 2020 AFAIK, not 554

Unsure in what way that URL entered the cam settings of Carlo.

@Carlo_Veraart1 you should use the same URL as you used for the virtual cam in that case.

How does that URL look like?

rtsp://carlo.veraart@lerocal.eu:kekxes-gotgy1-rExdot@lerocal.hopto.org:554/stream1

Ik had eerst een paswoord met ‘@’ erin… dat heb ik verandert en momenteel werkt er niets meer. Ik heb alles al eens terug opgestart, maar het is nog even afwachten lijkt me…

Good question, I don’t know and I would like to change it… but where?

In the native ‘Tapo’-app, this login and pasword do work..

For the account settings, my guess would be the Tapo phone app.

Where the white arrow is, I should be able to place the noip address…. but where to do that?

Also my ‘virtual ip cam’ (in real the same camera) is working again… I also sent an email to the developer, but I have no answer yet…

You should first add a local account, like Sven suggested.

The URL you pointed to should be editable in the Tapo Homey app.

I have done and it works in the native app…

Please find hereby enclosed a print screen of the settings in the Tapo app…

What camera model is it? Battery-powered cameras don’t support RTSP streaming.

You should go in the Tapo mobile app to your device → Settings icon in the top right corner → Advanced Settings → Camera account

That’s not much to work with.
If the cam supports the generic ONVIF protocol, you can try the Onvif Camera app. This has editable URL’s.

Did you check the phone app settings already?
