Tab for offline devices

Is there an easy way to see all the devices that are offline or not working correct? Maybe make a tab at the top to see wich devices are offline so you see it directly. Now I have to go through the whole list of devices to see if every device is working and doesn’t have the red exclamation mark.

Why not have yourself informed as soon as a device becomes unavailable:

App: Device Capabilities

Oh thats a nice way! Never thought about this! I will try that, thanks.

I agree with your idea an indicator and link to unavailable devices would be great, just like how the lights indicator works;
Something like

I also like it to be optional: select which indicators you like to see.
I don’t need speakers + energy for example.

Yes this is exactly what I mean! That would be great!

Just wondering, you have cameras in homey? And which cameras is it?

Device offline doesn’t trigger with me at such circumstances. Only if the app stops working it will trigger. Have to run a script regularly that checks if a timestamp changes or there is a dead node.

Of topic.

Am using IP cameras from Edimax, Foscam, and Raspberry. Getting only pictures so far. Streaming according Athom not (yet?) supported.

Correct. The device has to be unavailable to get detected.
This state breaks flows for example.

Reolink cam + doorbell cam, and a no-name outdoor cam. All added per Onvif Camera app.

Ah, thanks!

Also. What if a device stops working but is stated as online in Homey? My home connect oven works perfectly but sometimes in Homey the values stop updating. I have to delete the device and add it again every time it happens as the repair won’t fix it.

Could it be a glitch within the app for the device? Did you try to contact the maintainer of the app?

Hmm, i’ll try! Thanks for your suggestion.

Homey doesn’t detect that on it’s own, which is silly.
F.i. zigbee2mqtt has individual settings for both battery & mains powered devices, wich determines after how many hours of inactivity you’d like devices to be considered offline.

But, there’s a very neat script you can run, it checks for last update values of all/selected sensors and you can send notifications with the results:

My oven is a WIFI Home Connect device.

Ah, Home Connect app should be restarted daily to keep things alive.
App developer seems uninterested.

Ah, for me restarting the app doesn’t fix it. I have to delte the device every time ithappens and readd it back into homey.

  1. Maybe it’s mDNS related (Homey seems to have difficulties with it).
In that case you’d only need to restart your wifi router and access points.
  2. When the device hasn’t a reserved IP address yet, it might get different IP addresses over time from your DHCP server.
Homey has a hard time tracking devices with changed IP addresses.
  3. Maybe the device settings show a “Maintenance > Try to repair” option? This sometimes fixes ‘lost’ devices

Yeah try to repair doesn’t work. That’s why i’ve been deleting the device and addibg it back in Homey.
