Ring Doorbell, Camera and Alarm support for Homey

Danee,

I have tested the new version and it is working now, no delay needed.

Thanks again

The motion alarm is not working, have tried uninstalling the app and devices. Running the latest test version. I get ā€œMotion alarm disabled by Ringā€ in the device log in Homey. The motion alarm is enabled in the Ring app on my Android phone and works as it should. On the doorbell, the log shows that the bell is turned off.

Could it have something to do with the fact that I have turned on smart alarm in the Ring app where only people should be notified of movement, not ā€œanythingā€.

Yes, that can very well be the case. Please enable all motion types. If that doesn’t help, please see the FAQ at the beginning of this topic.

But of course I had completely forgotten the routine of deleting approved devices from the Ring account itself. Now it works as it should, so thanks and bows. (as they say in Norway..).

I have this simple flow

When Homey restarts it also triggerred this flow (for some reason). (I restart every night)

i did not really bother, I get a message when homey restarts so I know its that…

BUT

Since 2 days, Ring triggers this flow continuously after a restart. Causing the flow to be paused.

(i did update the ring app (manual) but not sure if that was 2 days agoo too)

Any ideas?

Hi,

In test version v2.14.13 on my homey2019 the app stopped acting on motion. The motions were registered in the history overview , but flows were not activated. I did the several times the recovery process in the faq. No effect.

Now I went back to stable version v2.14.12 and everything works again.

Did someone else experienced this too?

grtz.

First of all, thank you for an excellent app. It tremendously increases the value of my Ring alarm system, and is a great fix for the limited eco system for Ring in Europe. Suddenly we can integrate an existing Ring system fully into a home automation system, without having to duplicate sensors. This alone is a major reason to buy Homey.

I have been using the updated Ring app for about a year now on one site (Homey nr 1), in order to act on various Ring door and motion sensors, and integrate with home automation activities. I am just now trying to configure this on a second site (Homey nr 2) , but have no luck. Using Ring app 2.14.12 on both Homeys.

The second site (Homey nr 2) successfully authenticates to Ring. I have revoked and reauthenticated (and reinstalled) several times. The symptoms are as follows:

  • Cameras can be added, but will not show video feed when accessed.

- Any alarm component cannot be added, it will simply time out.

I am trying to guess what the problem might be, I am wondering of it is caused by having two separate Ring accounts linked to a single Homey account (even if it is on two separate Homeys)?

Any ideas? Suggestions for further trouble shooting?

Hi @Thorium,

This should not be a problem when developing I’ve used 1 Ring account on two homeys and also with multiple locations setup in my Ring account. Homey apps are unaware of the user in homey, so if you’re using 2 homeys with 2 Ring accounts they are basically 2 separated environments.

So, in the Homey where it’s not working, could you please reboot that Homey, wait a bit untill all apps are started and next add a Ring (alarm device. After that, please send me a Diagnostics Report.

Yes, exactly the same here. But it’s only the snapshot function that’s affected. And oddly enough, after i get the first Snapshot ( after a app restart in homey), I do get the first snapshot and i use PipUp to send it to my TV, and it has worked PERFECTLY for many months, but now it will only react to the first motion detection from Ring, and then all and every single new motion Detection after that, Homey doesn’t react anymore, even though I clearly can hear and see that Ring is correctly sending the signal to all my device’s and my phone, instantly, but not any further information to Homey.

And in all fairness, this is an important and incredibly awesome app for Ring, millions times better than the official one, and i really hope that you can get it fixed, so Motion Detection Snapshot etc. will work again, as it always have.

Amazing work.

Thanks

To be honest, I see no relation to the post you are reacting too, so just to be sure:

Are/were you using the test version of the app?

Ring Alarm Base Station Timeout After 2FA – Cameras/Doorbell Work Fine

Hi @DaneedeKruyff (or anyone who can help),

I’m having an issue adding my Ring Alarm Base Station to the Ring app on Homey Pro. Cameras and Doorbell integrate perfectly, but the Base Station (and alarm system) fails with a timeout.

Details:

  • Homey model/firmware: Homey Pro (Early 2023)

  • Ring app version: 2.14.12

  • Steps tried:

    • Installed latest stable version → same issue

    • Installed test version → same issue

    • Uninstalled/reinstalled the app multiple times

    • Restarted Homey Pro

    • Revoked Homey access in Ring account (account.ring.com → Control Center → Authorized Devices/Apps) and re-authenticated

    • Entered 2FA code quickly during pairing

  • What happens exactly:

    • Adding cameras/doorbell: works fine, no problems.

    • Adding Base Station: login → 2FA succeeds → it starts discovering devices → spins/thinks for ~30 seconds → error: ā€œTimeout after 30secā€

    • The Base Station shows as ā€œonlineā€ and healthy in the official Ring app.

  • Other info:

    • MFA is enabled on Ring account

    • Only one location in Ring account? Yes

This seems like a recurring issue with alarm/base station discovery after API changes or token refresh problems, as cameras use different endpoints.

Any ideas or a newer test version with a fix? Happy to provide logs, more diagnostics, or test anything you suggest.

Thanks in advance for the great app and support!

Best regards,

I’ve read you post (thanks for being extensive!) and was surprised you had to login when attempting to add an Alarm Device, that should not happen.
I’ve had a quick look at your report, you are running a test version

2026-02-07T08:38:33.241Z [log] [App] com.amazon.ring 2.14.13 initialising --------------

Could you please install the stable version, reboot, next wait a bit. Then, open a camera to see if you have a live stream (to confirm you are actually logged on) and next try to add a device from your Alarm System.
Let me know what happens, thanks!

Negative…

Attached a new report…

I just had a look at your log, at the code and ran some tests on my homey.
Your log shows no error where it definitely would have if there had been an error contacting Ring or Ring returned something unusable. Since nothing is logged, I can only assume Ring is simply returning nothing.

I’ll add some extra logging to this part to try to track this doen. Are you able to run the app from the CLI?

Hi,

I’ve already installed the dev version via CLI. I saw that there’s no BaseStation option. Still, I followed the same steps anyway: added a camera first, then the keypad/keyboard. But nothing changes — it just hangs there thinking, and after 30 seconds I get a timeout.

Thank you…!!!

If there’s no basestation, you’ve installed the master branch, please try the test branch: GitHub - daneedk/com.amazon.ring at test
That has extra logging when adding a device.

Same problem…

Sorry, but thanks for your efforts.

Hello @DaneedeKruyff,

Thank you for the Community Ring app!

I just got Homey Pro and installed the Community Ring app. I am getting two types of errors during Live view and am wondering if there is anything I can do to eliminate those errors, hence coming to you for advice.

I have multiple instances of different types of Ring cameras. Of the 6 camera types, Live view with ā€œSpotlight Cam Plusā€ and ā€œVideo Doorbell Proā€ work without any error message. Live view with the remaining 4 camera types result in the error message shown below. Although Live view don’t work for the 4 camera types, other functionalities such as turning on/off flood light and siren do work.

I’ve tried re-installing the Community Ring app as well as revoking authentication followed by re-authenticating. The same error message persists. Restarting Homey Pro also doesn’t resolve this issue.

Ring camera types and error message shown during Live view

Spotlight Cam Plus no error message
Video Doorbell Pro no error message

Floodlight Cam ā€œLive video not supported on battery operated camerasā€
Indoor Cam ā€œLive video not supported on battery operated camerasā€
Spotlight Cam Wired ā€œLive video not supported on battery operated camerasā€
Stick Up Cam (3rd Gen) ā€œunknown_errorā€
