Hi, the Smart Alerts are supported since may 2023: Ring Doorbell, Camera and Alarm support for Homey - #75 by DaneedeKruyff
Hi Rein,
If I understand you correctly, when using the Surveillance Mode trigger at app level (the first 2 flows) the setting of the Virtual Device is handled correctly.
But it doesnât work when using the Surveillance Mode trigger from your basestation it doesnât work, am I right?
Could you please remove the condition card (EnâŠ) and see if the Virtual Device getâs set? I want to establish if the trigger isnât working or the condition is the cause.
(I have no option of testing it myself right now, so hence the question if you can test that)
Danee, that is correct. I will test tomorrow and let you know
Ok, thanks, so I messed something up with the condition card.
I will look into it!
I really wanted to use heimdall but still use the base station to sound an alarm when alarm is triggering, also when an alarm triggerd that i will get an call, wich is done with the basestation.
Is there any way to keep this functionality with Heimdall
Iâd like to keep getting called by Ring when an alarm goes off. Thatâs my whole point. And that I can use the Ring Base Stationâs speaker to sound an alarm.
Hi Rein,
I was finally able to look at the condition card, but I can find no problem with it in my testing.
Iâm not sure when you added the basestation to your Homey, it may be you added it while I was in the process of adding the device and I made some changes to the device which will only set when adding the device.
So, could you please remove the basestation and add it again to see if that resolves it for you?
Also, do you have the Advanced Flow option on your Homey? If so, you can make a flow and test it there to see if the flow card returns an error.
Like I said in the other topic, nothing gets changed in your Ring Alarm system, youâll just be able to see itâs capabilities and have some control over it.
Youâve posted the same post here, but Iâm still not getting what your question is.
Danee,
I never used Advanced programming, spagetti programming is possible, but I wrote 2 small programs. (see attachment.)
Before deleting the Base station I tried what I have done before
Using the Base station options it is working correct.
By using my Ring-keyboard to switch On the Ring Alarm it is not working, Ring Virtueel stayed âoffâ.
But what was happening by switching Off the Ring Alarm, my Ring Virtueel went âOnâ ??? How is that possible.
Then I deleted the Ring Base station.
I restarted my Homey pro.
I added the Ring Base station again
Rewrote the programs like the attachments. And tested alle my options in Alarm Installatie again.
Always using âUitschakelenâ and âAanschakelenâ of 2 programs belonging together
Nothing changed.
In the programs where I am using the Basestation possiblities it is working by using by the Basestation options, but it is not working by using the Ring Keyboard.
And also in not Advanced programs by using my Ring Keyboard switching the Ring Alarm âOffâ Ring Virtueel went âOnâ
Hope you are understanding it.
Succes Rein
Hi Rein,
Itâs not entirely clear to me, but weâre getting there.
Am I right that the method you use to set the mode makes the difference?
To test, can you please create this flow:
After that, change the mode in the Ring app on your smartphone from disarmed to home (or away) and next back to disarmed. Please post the results visible in the timeline in the Homey app here.
Next, change the mode using your Keypad from disarmed to home (or away) and back to Disarmed again, also, please post the results from the timeline here (if any are written)
Danee, You are right.
Setting the mode via the Basestation options is working correct with my flows.
Using the Keyboard from The Ring Alarmsystem is giving these strange outcome.
I will do the tests in the weekend and let you know
Rein
Danee,
Hereby the results of the tests I did and a copy of my written flow.
Test 1: Changed the mode in the Ring app on my smartphone from disarmed to home and next back to disarmed.
Test 2: Changed the mode using my Ring Keypad from disarmed to home and back to disarmed again
Test 1
Test 2
Sooo awesome! Thanks for a good job @DaneedeKruyff ! Iâve done some really awesome new flows today. However I got the message from Ring that my base station no longer will alert me of fire hazards due to me connecting it to Homey.
Thanks! The output shows me the flow cards work, but not as expected, the result from the condition seems to be inverted.
This can mean two things, either youâve selected Invert on the condition card, which I donât think is the case as the text reads De modus is Uitgeschakeld and not De modus is niet Uitgeschakeld but just to rule out I made a mistake somewhere, can you please check what happens when you right click on the card and select Invert?
The other thing, it could be a timing issue, can you please add a delay between the trigger and the condition card like this and add on and off cards for your Virtual Device:
This flow works perfectly for me, when disarmed the button is in off state, when either Home or Away the button is in on state.
(Iâve used a built-in Virtual Device, Socket type, is that the same as yours?)
Iâve never seen that, the Homey app is âjust another clientâ login into your Ring account, it doesnât set any settings other than the ones available to you in the Homey interface or via flows.
Could you show the message you received. Can you also provide some more information, Ring Basestation type, Do you have a subscription, if so what plan. Which country are you from?
(Send via a PM if youâre not comfortable posting private information here.)
Danee,
I added the flow with the delay, and now it is working perfect
Thanks for spending your time to solve it
Regards Rein
Test 10 Ring App time 16.01
Test11 Ring Keyboard time 16.03
Thanks for letting me know!!
I will see if thereâs anything I can do to prevent needing a delay card in the flow.
Of course! The message was saved to the timeline so I snapped a screenshot of it.
Itâs in Swedish and reads âBase Station no longer detects fire in Home".
I have no subscription, live in Sweden. The version of both base station and app is seen below. Thanks for your reply ![]()
I assume itâs a message in the Homey App timeline (Thereâs little context in your post and just a partial screenshot) so it is not a message from Ring.
This is most likely because the the fire alarm is a new capability and is at first loaded without a state. Right after initial run the capability is set to false, hence the message.
New test version published
Version: 2.14.13
- Added settings and flowcards to Camera and Doorbell to enable or disable Motion Alerts
- Added possible fix for a race condition where a new mode wasnât retrieved correctly upon setting a new mode
This new test version add a setting to disable and enable Motion Alerts in the Advanced Settings of a Ring Camera or Doorbell. This enables you to have flow not react to motion detection on your Homey without influencing how other devices such as your phone wil react on motion detection.
Next to that, you can also disable and enable Motion Alerts from a flow with the new flow cards
And lastly, this test version has a potential fix for a race condition which results in having to use a delay when using the condition card The mode is ⊠flow card triggered by a The mode changed trigger card, see this post: Ring Doorbell, Camera and Alarm support for Homey - #885 by DaneedeKruyff @Rein_Blaauw
