Hi,
I have a Ring Doorbell wired and the livestream is not working.
It says “Live video not supported on battery operated camera’s”
Thats weird because the wired version doesnt have a battery

New version published
Version: 2.14.6
- Improved mains power detection for doorbells
The power source detection of the Ring Doorbell Wired is fixed in this version.
Thanks @Sander_Bakker for reporting and providing debugging information.
Resolved since latest update. Thanks!
You’re welcome!
Though I’d still like to know which device you have, I’ve applied a patch and want to know which devices it covers.
New test version published
Version: 2.14.7
- Added Ring Alarm Basestation
- Prepared app for Homey Pro firmware 12.9
This version brings the Ring Alarm Basestation to your Homey.
After adding the Basestation to your Homey you will be able to see the following capabilities:
and you will be able to make flows based on the status of the different alarms.
Obviously you will also be able to set the Surveillance Mode from the device itself and from flows!
Next to that, the app is also ready for the upcoming release of Homey firmware 12.9.01!
This firmware, which will be released for Homey Pro 2016-2019, Homey Pro 2023 and Homey Pro Mini will bring Nodejs 22.20.0 to Homey Pro for the environment in which apps run. This means there is no longer the need for polyfills2 and extra effort by developers to support apps on Homey Pro 2016-2019!
Important notice: This version can currently only be installed when your Homey is configured for using Experimental Updates as Homey Pro firmware is still in beta.
Advice: Do not turn on Experimental Updates on systems on which you rely for operation your home!
1 This version number is the version number which is communicated by Athom at this time, this may differ when actually released.
2 A polyfill is extra code that adds new features to Homey which aren’t supported due to Homey Pro 2016-2019 using an old version of Nodejs. (And soon this is no longer needed!)
Will this means I don’t need the ring security app anymore and can use it with heimdall?
No, in this app all Ring Alarm devices are added as part of the Ring Alarm system, the Ring Security app is enabling adding them as regular Z-Wave devices so they can be used without a full Ring Alarm system.
I haven’t received any motion or doorbell notifications for over a year. I’ve followed all available troubleshooting steps numerous times. I even completely removed the device from the original Ring app, performed a full factory reset, and added it to a brand-new account.
Additionally, I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled both versions of the Homey Ring app several times and reauthenticated the connection. Everything works correctly within the official Ring app, but it’s impossible to get notifications working again.
I’ve searched through all forums and tried every suggested solution, but nothing resolves the issue. I’ve been patient for quite some time, but after more than a year of having a non-functional integration, I’m really hoping for a definitive solution.
Hi Roy,
That’s unfortunate, and your problem doesn’t really sound app related as you’ve tried so many thing to fix this. But let’s give it a try.
Can you please try this:
(Are you capable of running an app from the CLI? [HOW TO] CLI install method)
does that mean that one can add a contact or movement sensor as a regular zwave device without Ring alarm hub and a Ring home subscription ?
Yes, when using my other Ring app: Ring Security - Extend Heimdall with Ring Security products
Hi,
i don’t see the connection in my ring app online. And I get a notification from ring that there was a login. But when I want to ad a camera or doorbel it will go in time out. Here is the diagnostic of the app c3a45008-0d49-4d1f-b893-73c7a3484c36
Thanks for your feedback and excellent help. I have replaced the ring for the new Ajax security doorbell although it isn’t compatible with homey, it looks very interesting to me. The struggles with Homey and the yearly payment of nearly 40 euro for just video storage made me take this decision.
@DaneedeKruyff forgive my ignorance here, but when I try to install the test version, i get “incompatible app version” and it doesn’t install. What am I doing wrong? Thank you
I see support for “Ring Intercom” but am I right in presuming there no support for “Ring Intercom Video”?
The current test version requires Homey firmware 12.9.0 or higher which is only available when experimental updates is enabled for your Homey as described in the post announcing the version: Ring Doorbell, Camera and Alarm support for Homey - #816 by DaneedeKruyff
I am not aware of a Ring Intercom Video device, is this a new device, can you share a link to it?
Sorry about that, understood. Question for you- is there any way to have the base station show as a security panel instead, so it’ll be compatible to expose to apple home? Or is there a different solution for this? I’ve tried using a virtual device, which will work with some more tinkering of the flows.
Thank you
