Ring Doorbell, Camera and Alarm support for Homey

Hi again, today Ring Homey dident work again. So i tried that flow you sent and yes that flow works but not the rest, like if i want to change the Alarm system to home/away

Hi again, now i might see what is the problem. I have my Ring account and also have access to my parents account in my Ring app. When i choose location in Homey Ring app it seems like its get mixed up in somehow in Homey Ring app, because it seems to work when i use my parents location. I dont know if that is just temporarily or not. You think this could be the problem?

Yes, that may very well be the problem. I want to look into multiple locations with a Ring Alarm System, I’ve started a goal for purchasing an additional system on my Ko-Fi page, but it’s slow unfortunately.

Somehow Homey users seems to be ok with heavily investing in devices but not in supporting community developers to be able to use their devices.

I have deleted the Ring app in Homey along with all the old flows, and reinstalled everything again. Let’s see if it works better now.

an update about the problem, reinstalled app and flows it worked fine for a couple of days and then the problems came back :frowning:

My Ring app stopped since today, its not communicating with devices
I restarted and re-authenticated the app, Homey, Wifi, nothing solves it so far.
Other devices have no issues.
Any suggestions?

The same with me.
Delete all flows, delete the Ring app.
Switch off Homey and after 10 minutes started Homey again.
Installed the Ring App again
Tried to install a keyboard
System gave a timeout after 3000 seconds without finding the keyboard.
Tried to find another Ring item, Door sensor.
Same issue
I installed my hardware solution again.
For me, the Ring app is too unstable to rely on.
I think the Ring company is constantly change issue in the API

I only use The Ring Alarm system V2 and then only the door/window sensors.
1 location

Installed the Ring app again and tried the authentication.
But also that is not working again Timeout after 30sec.

Same here since this morning. After trying to repair it ends with a time-out. Re-authentication did not solve it :roll_eyes:

Upon further investigation, the Ring Chimes do work when controlled via Homey, but the location of the alarm is causing issues. ā€œUnknown locationā€ can be seen in the error tag.

From what I noticed is that both the mqtt-ring docker container and homebridge both went offline at around 3 a.m., so I assume ring itself updated their API without notice (something they’re known for). Below are some screenshots of the mqtt-docker container just in case.

Also having trouble with this app now :(. That goes for checking the current mode (instant error), as well as changing the mode (loading forever then ā€˜network request failed’).

Looks indeed like Ring is doing something or have something going on with the API :pensive_face:
Thing is, I experience no problems (yet?) so I can’t troubleshoot anything myself.

Can everyone experiencing problems, post what devices they have problems with, describe the problem and send a Diagnostics Report? The first post states devices are not working and most replies are ā€˜same here’. There’s obviously something going on, but I’d like to be able to narrow it sown as different devices communicate with the API in totally different manners.

Important, is it a doorbell/camera or is it part of the Ring Alarm system. If the problem occurs in either device type, I’d like to know if you also have the other device type(s).
Also, important, I’d like to know how many locations you have configured and in use.

I am using Ring alarm contact switches and motion sensors. They are not indicating status changes (doors open or motion detected). I am not using doorbell or camera features in this app.

Also, the Ring Alarm hub does indicate contact switch and motion sensor changes.

I don’t have a specific problem with the app, but it only has the camera’s connecting. The alarm devices are handled through the ring-mqtt plugin from Home Assistant. I do have however multiple locations, who are shared with me, where (at least) one has another alarm base station that is handled through Homebridge (who stopped responding as well). All locations filter out their own devices using the location ID’s.

My home setup only has motion sensors and contact switches. Diagnostics below, although I doubt they’ll be useful since they’re only camera’s and are working as expected.

I have 5 cameras, crime, 1 doorbell. Also have a alarmsystem with 2 contact sensors, key pad, 2 motion sensors that is connected to alarm base station. In another location I have 2 cameras.

After I tried to deleted the app again nothing that is connected to the base station can’t be added to the app again. And when want to change the mode from home, away or disarmed it just give an error on one of the location. The other with just 2 cameras seems to work fine.

I have 2 locations. Only 1 i use in the homey

I use an alarm keypad v2 and sensors and movements sensors and cameras and doorbell

Everything wont work anymore so like flows with if location is set to armed

Or camera snapshots are not loading sometimes

Same here, the whole alarm unit, the keypads, the contact switches and motion sensors are not communicating with Homey, no status updates or whatever, it lost all communication.

I have a ring door bell pro.
One outdoor camera.
Alarm base.
Contact detectors
Moves detectors.
Pad keys V2

I don’t know if it’s related or not, but the bug comes one day after adding all the contact detectors, the alarm base and moves detectors

I tried to remove the ring app.
I tried to reboot the homey and install again the ring app

When adding the ring door bell after app installation

Yeah thats also an issue but it stills add the device even tough it gives an error
