@Bug @Venzent
Could you please remove your authorised devices and reauthenticate as described here:
@Yendi
That error indicates a communication error between your device and Homey, could you please try this another way, for example by using the web client at: https://my.homey.app/
Hi Danne,
Initialy this didn’t solve the issue.
I then removed the device from Homey and revoke the authorisation.
Then re-authorised it by adding the doorbell again and that did the trick.
Thanks for your support!
The screenshot was from the web client, i have the same issue from iPhone, with a Timeout 60000ms.
The chime is still linked to Homebridge, can this be the issue ? The same automation in Homekit is working.
→ I migrate services and devices one by one and remove them from Homekit/homebridge once I have them on Homey.
I don’t think having it connected to Homebridge matters, but I’m also not familiar with it.
Some things to check:
- Could you please open the apps settings an check if you’re still authenticated at Ring
- Could you stop and restart the app, wait until all apps are fully started, test the flow and send a Diagnostics Report.
Have done everything asked, here is the report ID: d52d294a-d32a-4880-afa7-9aeeb02c6fee
Thanks for taking the time looking into it.
Hi @DaneedeKruyff,
Sorry I was not able to test sooner. I have a 2016-2019 homey. Because it was a while ago I decided to start from scratch on the ring and homey install. Unfortunately I run in to problems with the 17 versions. The issue is that the camera’s are not working at all in homey and only able to install a device one time. Below is my detailed log
- First I checked the app it was still the test version 17. I quickly peeked at my doorbell device and looked like it was working with a recent motion log. However, I needed to install my stickup cams still
- Removed the ring app (was still test version)
- Installed the ring 17 version
- Removed/cleared all authorized device in the ring app
- Added ring doorbell
- No camera was visible so no image to display, the screen stays black after refresh
- Tried to add the stickup cams - then I got a time-out when doing, so not able to install additional device
- removed everything again ring app, devices, authorizations on ring app
- Installed the app again
- added the stickup cams first, both were added, however not able to display image not detecting anything
- tried to add doorbell again a timeout, not able to add
- Checked the homey ring app authentication seems okay
- checked the authorised devices on ring, and here I only see one, previously I also had homey with it, see screenshot below
- rebooted the app, still no result
- revoked authentication in homey ring app
- tried to install the doorbell (next to the stickup cams) now I was able to add the doorbell
- Also the doorbell has the same issue. The screen stays black after refresh with error
I had the feeling the test version 17 was working, however did not test it or install any other devices with that. Seems I have no access to the test version anymore to test
Seel below screenshots
Do you have multiple locations setup in your Ring account?
No only one location
New test version published
Test version: 2.12.1
- First version to connect to the Ring Alarm system, Ring contact sensor available
This is the first version to get the Ring Alarm system and its devices available in Homey. At this time only the Contact Sensor is available. It has the Contact sensor and Tamper detection available as capabilities. Obviously the battery-level is also available.
Other Ring Alarm devices will follow, at this time no ETA can be given on when what will be added.
You’ll find test version of this app here: Ring App voor Homey | Homey
Going to try it right away
Unfortunately same results with the test version as the 17 version
Well, this new version only adds support for the Ring Alarm system and it seems your problem has to do with a failed authentication.
The you add your first device and it does not show a screenshot or it can’t be controlled by flows it’s most likely an authentication problem.
Please remove the Ring app from your Homey and reboot it.
Remove all authorised devices in your Ring account.
Next install the Ring app and your Doorbell and logon.
Check if you see the snapshot, if not, please send a Diagnostics Report.
Yes!!! That was the issue!
I removed my old address using the ring iOS app and the problem seems solved. Thank you very much!
I have remove the app, rebooted homey, removed all authorised devices in ring, reinstalled 17 version, add ring doorbell, same result screenshot does not show, cannot add additional cams get timeout when doing.
I created diagnostic. Will send you the code personally
Thanks for looking into this. Much appreciated
Hi @DaneedeKruyff
before i removed everything the doorbells were showing snapshots and the only thing that was not working was the alarm and movement triggers.
after removing everything like instructed nothing seems to work.
i cant add doorbells and cant get snapshots for the ones that are still in homey.
can i install the old version before the update from a few days ago somehow?
that version worked like a charm for many years without any issues for me up until the last update.
steps taken:
removed ring authorization from ring control authorized apps.
repair one doorbell and re-authorizee
no more snapshots. all green in the homey app settings and new device in the ring authorized apps
removed a doorbell and tried to re-add. timout adding.
removed the ring app
removed ring authorization from ring control authorized apps.
rebooted homey
installed homey ring app
adding doorbell with re-authorization again… timeout adding
hope i can just install the old app to get it working again…
addition… all doorbells are gone now…
Could you please stop and restart the app, next wait a second for everything to settle and send me a Diagnostics Report?
I’m currently troubleshooting this with another user of the app, it looks like you’re running into the same problem, want to confirm that with your report.
Hi Danee,
started and tried to add a device with a timeout.
captured bb57de93-d5b9-4c30-b3c0-56576507d60f after that
thanks for the assistance!!
Yes, that’s the same error we’re troubleshooting.
It have some indication that this is caused by rate-limiting by Ring, could you disable the Ring app on your system and try enabling it again in 24 hours?
Version 2.12.1 running (on a Homey 2019 Pro) over here an everything is functioning. Both motion activation via the rings camera’s and snapshots from both the doorbell and the camera’s. Thanks again @DaneedeKruyff for your efforts on this.
