Well, yes, motion detection has to be enabled for the device. However, Motion Alerting can be disabled and that will prevent the annoying motion detected alerts on your phone.
Smart advice, I did not think of this option. Since my device is plugged in for power I can indeed activate motion without consequence on battery life
Follow up: I have activated motion detection on the device and deactivated alerts for motion detection. I can confirm it now works well for bringing the snapshot into Homey, this is great.
I still need to test if event based flow now work. I am not home and will do this in a couple of weeks and report here then
Thanks a lot
Good evening to you all. Iām a Homey newby and I had plans with the Homey, that for the moment are not working out as planned.
I have a working Ring alarm system (sensors, alarm and outside siren). I have several additional Ring cameraās around the house. Due to a recent break in, I would like to make our house as unpleasant it can be for the burglar during a break in. Additional Ring sirens do not exist for indoor use.
My wish is that I can command different brands of equipment (sirens, lights, sonos etc) when my Ring alarm triggers due to a break in.
For now I canāt find trigger cards to start a flow and command extra sirens, lights etcā¦ And a few minutes afterward to command the vacuum cleaner to clean up the house, because the burglar shit his pants with all those noise and lightsā¦
Does anyone have a good suggestion for a trigger card during a Ring break in alarm?
Regards
Dennis
Hi Dennis,
Unfortunately there is no flow card that is triggered when the Ring Alarm enters the Alarm State as the Ring Alarm support in this app is currently limited to obtaining and setting the Alarm Mode. (Please not the terminology used is ambiguous, the Alarm Mode relates to the Disarmed, Home and Away Mode where the Alarm State relates to an active or inactive Alarm)
I canāt test this myself, but if you have a Ring Camera you could try to use the The generic alarm turned on flow card to detect if the Ring Alarm system enters the Alarm State (Providing this camera is set to turn the Sirene on when the Alarm State is active)
After that itās up to you to fill the then column with all bells and whistles you want to turn on in case of an Alarm State
(Iāve posted a question if there is interrest in connecting the Ring Alarm to Homey, but thereās not much response there, maybe not enough users saw that post: Is there any interrest in connecting Ring Alarm to Homey )
I tried that option this morning, but unfortunately that did not workā¦
I continued testing. But correct me if Iām wrong. With this flowchart my vacuum cleaner and chime should switch on when I have movement at my doorbell? Or am I doing something wrong?
AAhh I guess I found the root of the problem. The Homey app did not seem to register anyhing after the first connection of the device with the Homey app.
I only see general alarm and motion detection at the moment of connecting the ring doorbell, and nothing after that.
Seems a notification issue. Now it seems logical that the trigger donāt work, it is not being notified to do anything.
Is there a fix for that?
Hi!
My homey donāt trigger when ring doorbell button is pressed, and it doesnāt pass through any trigger.
Have works before the recent updateā¦.
Trying to setup my Halloween scene by pressing that button and it seems it is an app issueā¦ crossing my fingers it will be fixed asap!!
Hi Joakim,
Welcome, please read the more recent posts in this topic, Youāll see that this is caused by a change on Ringās side, problem is itās very hard to troubleshoot as I have no problems with it on any of my Homeys or Ring devices.
Not solving the Homey Ring app issue but at least a workaround for my āPress Doorbell to start the Halloween flow/funā by instead using the Alexa/Ring integration that still seems to work.
Created an āRoutineā within the Alexa app to be triggered when someone pressed the doorbell. Then as Alexa and Homey devices are integrated I created a virtual device in homey called Halloween that is turned on when the doorbell is clicked.
In Homey when this Halloween device is turned on I start my Halloween flow (and as last step disable the Halloween virtual device)
Hopefully this helps someone with the same setup
Any ideas on this problem? The Ring doorbell do not seem to notify honey of the movement alarms etc. Therefore the triggercard does not work as expected.
Isnāt this the exact same problem that has been discussed for a while now? Just scroll back.
Aaah yeah, seems like the same problem indeedā¦ So no fix for that oneā¦
