[Request] Web interface

It seems the path has been layed out by @Emile clearly now. Though our wishes might be different there’s cleary a ‘not now’ featuere because of low user ratings.

I was clearly under the assumption both code bases where the same and porting might only be a matter of a few tweaks which is sadly isn’t…

Thank you for the response emile! Now I just hope that your other roadmap features are again impressive! (Hoping for a smart speech assistant! Google’s assistant is basically a toddler that can hardly speak nor listen)

Hmmm, they just ditched that a few years back :grimacing:, mentioning Google

But maybe LG can be of help now, no clue.

Well… running an LLM locally is very interesting…

I had my hopes that I could use my old iPads I have lying around as dashboards, but alas the older iPadOS version they can run does not work with the modern Homey app.

However, with a web version of the dashboard this old hardware could still be used. At least as a “dashboard viewer”, building the dashboards could still be done on Android/iOS apps - that’s fine.

Well, not for just any age… this needs a minimum OS / browser version as well.

I have a 2011 tablet, but it is flashed with (a bit newer) Android 7.1.2.
It doesn’t display my.homey.app in a browser, not even a login screen.

But Home Assistant and homeydash.com still work though.

I also support web based dashboards

There’s an inconsistency between how Moods are displayed on the web app versus the mobile app. On the web app, Moods show the number of lights, whereas on the mobile app, they display the room or zone name. This discrepancy makes it hard to identify which room a Mood is linked to when using the web app.

Would it be possible to unify the display, so both the web and mobile apps show the room or zone name for better clarity? thanks :innocent:

Do you mean running it locally with Ollama on a computer, or are you suggesting it be integrated with the Homey Pro system?

Thanks

Dear Homey devs, I would like the Dashboards accessible on the Alexa Echo Show 15 device - either web interface or an app. Even if it was in read-only mode it would be nice.

When I read it back then it seems to me that Athom has invest a lot of time and money for 20% web users on advanced flow and want not spent that much again.

It’s the advanced flow that make me decided to buy HPE2023.

Perhaps users are using AdvancedFlows (WebApp) just 2x a week but the mobile app 10x a day :man_shrugging:

How many don’t even know advanced flow exists :man_shrugging:

It would help to discover this amazing feature by adding a link to the advanced flow within their mobile App to inform their customers about it. Just a link under flow. A feature request for once that does not take a lot of engineering effort :+1:

I created a Feature Request for this.

Guess that Buy Me Banner is already here:

But I guess the user not using Advanced Flows is just another type of people,
they probably have other needs than the I guess ~ 5 - 10 users Percent of All Homey users active on the Community.

Either I previously closed it or I don’t have it :man_shrugging:

Wouldn’t it be better to have it at the top of the Flow page where people go to creat flow?

I assume that banner is not displayed in your case, because you have a 2023 Homey Pro model that includes Advanced Flows. So Athom does not have to target you to buy that additional module.

Good point, that could be it. Hopefully Athom will increase feature visibility to increase adoption. It’s an awesome feature and sad to have a low number of users using it. A lot of work was done and it just need that extra 0.5% work to hopefully increase that number of users.

For me personally, Advanced Flows was a key differentiator compared to other smart home solutions/hubs and one of the reasons I choose Homey als platform.

I think that one of the factors that does not speak in favour of Advanced Flows, is that you need a desktop/comparable device to be able to properly use it. I can imagine that there is a (relatively large?) group of users that only have mobile devices like phones and tablets. On such devices Standard Flows are easier to use than Advanced Flows. For the latter you need to open the web app on the mobile device, in order to use Advanced Flows. The user experience of Advanced Flows on a mobile device is a far cry from that on a desktop.

100% with you. The questions I have is how many users know about advanced flow and Homey on the web? There are still billions of desktops / laptops in the world and my guess is that more than 90% of Homey customers have such devices.

For day to day and to consume Homey content like checking notifications, launching flow, check devices, add devices… it is expected that everyone mostly use their mobile phone but when it comes to content creation such as advanced flow or dashboard creation, deskop / laptop remains king of productivity.

All of that to say that this is expected to have low Web app usage but what would be interesting to see is how many users would click on a link from regular flow page to be redirected to advanced flow on the web (surely closing it if they are on a Mobile) BUT then eventually go back to it at a later stage because they now know the feature exists and they can access it from a web browser on a desktop / laptop.

Of course we will never have 100% of Homey customers using advanced flow but if that percentage increase from let’s say 10% to 15% it’s still a win-win situation for Homey since the feature already exist.

Just thinking about it again, a more simple way to look at it is as follow:
Out of all active Homey customers, how many of them have open the web app at least once?

If that number is low then something should probably be done

Indeed. Like the ‘obvious’ awareness opportunities via the Homey Podcast and a newsletter (does that exist?), wouldn’t the following be neat: a short animated video tutorial in the app, that shows the user the possibilities of Advanced Flows in 1-2 minutes. This way the user sees Advanced Flows in action.

I am aware that many videos are available on Homey’s YouTube channel, but am not sure how many users actually watch/know about them. On the other hand: the following video on Advanced Flows has been watched 43k times :grinning:.
