I can use some advise on this: I have a homey pro 2026 installed in our house 900km away. I use it (for now) just to put the lights on and off every night. It’s connected via wifi. I also have three eufy camera’s installed in the house. One camera directly to the router via wifi, two others direcly to a eufy homebase. The two camera’s connected to the homebase went offline a couple of weeks ago. The solution would be: power down the homebase and reboot. But that’s impossible, no one can access the house. They came back online after a few days, probably the homebase rebooted after an update. A few days ago they went down again and did not come back online yet. The camera connected via wifi to the router continues to work perfectly.
The homey pro kept on working, the lights went on every night 15 min. before sun down and off at 11.30 pm. After a few days the homey pro was not reachable anymore through the app and I got more than 20 messages per day stating: the homey pro has gone offline and the homey pro is connected again and offline and online and…so on. The app however can never reach the homey pro.
Two days ago the lights do not come on any more at night, so the flow does not work anymore.
I have one in house camera still working, that can see the homey pro. No ring visible under the homey pro.
My solution for the two not working camera’s would be to connect them directly via the router and place the homebase on a smart plug that’s offline every night at the same time for a minute and have it reboot every night.
The solution for the homey pro??? I bought a homey usb-ethernet plug to connect it directly to the router. I will install it when we are back there again in a couple of weeks. Now the question is: since I can only get there about once every two months: would it be an idea to put the homey pro on an old fashioned timer and have it go offline (power out) and back online 15 minutes later (power on) every night, to force it to reboot and automatically correct any connection error, or would this make the chance worse to keep it working correctly? It’s my first homey device and I have no experience on how trustworthy they are. It seems that just keeping it on wifi is not reliable enough.

I don’t have the 2026 version but the 2023 one and I have a flow that reboot the device every night and I don’t experience any negative effects.
So I assume that the same can be done for your device without any problems. (And you don’t have to get a timer 
)
I think you have to set an extra setting to get the reboot option of the homey device, (options, experiments, power user) but than you can make a flow like “when it is 2:00 than reboot homey”
Okay thanks…having it reboot by itself would probably be a better option then just to cut the power for 15 min. or so I guess. May I ask for your reason to reboot it every night? Do you never have to physically cut the power to the device?
Perhaps Homey isn’t quite the solution for what you’re trying to do. It’s overly complicated as a device to just turn on/off lights, and if that’s your main goal (for now), use something simpler that also isn’t notoriously bad at maintaining a network connection. I’m sure that there are timer plugs with built-in light sensor that will turn on the lights for an amount of time when it gets dark enough.
Leave Homey to handle more complicated things that aren’t “mission-critical”.
I also had some issues with homey not responding from time to time in the morning. After using this flow it happens notably less.
There were some times I had to remove the power cable, but I think I can count those times on one hand.
Yeah I know. I was also thinking about an old fashioned timer for the lights, but it’s also a simple way to see if the homey still works to keep one light on this simple flow. But just the idea NOT to use the homey for turning on and off the lights in a house, because it’s not reliable enough…
We plan to go and live in the house in about ten months and I want to make the house smart, so installing the homey with a few plugs was my first step in creating a smart house. I did not expect it to stop working so soon. I also installed two S4 Eufy camera’s, only to find out they do not function together with the homey pro also and the person creating the eufy api told me not to expect them to work together in the coming months.
Okay, thanks Justin, I will look into creating the same on our homey. (Eigenlijk zou je twee homey’s moeten hebben, waarbij de ene de andere even helemaal van de stroom kan halen, voor de veiligheid :-))
