Question:
If i have an app that the developer don’t respond to.
Can i upload the “same” but modified app but in a different name/id.
So users can to test on it, till the dev respond? And after that let the dev take over again?
Or is this no no?

What’s the app?
This is possible. You can publish test versions/apps without certification, I also do this often when I’m building an app for a device I don’t own.
You can’t “merge” apps, but you can send a PR to the original developer with your changes, if the developer has a public GitHub repository
@Simon_Salvin Not any special app just in general.
I read on the forum sometimes the apps have gone “dead”
Yesterday or something @Drako74 was taking about the issue of “dead” apps one e.g sonoff
Ok @smarthomesven good to know thanks
Indeed, I was thinking of the Backup Centre app. A functionality I had been hoping for ever since I got my Homey Pro, too be able to do local backups to network storage, and restore. I really really want to love that app and for it to work. But (and I do believe from the forum page I am not the only one) no matter what I try I can not get the restore too work. It does a backup to my NAS just fine (although I did have to down grade my NAS’s SMB from version 3 to 2, which isn’t particularly desired).
But there hasn’t been a response from the app developer to anyone’s posts in a while, which is a tragic shame, as the app has enormous potential.
It’s not the only app, just the only one I can think of off the top of my head right now.
Perhaps there should be a rule about apps having to have a forum topic page, and if the developer doesn’t respond within 6 months, it’s then fair game for other devs to create their own version or something like that…

Or just send the app in a zip, it’s only just js code.
No binary to revers engineer
@Drako74
I might take this on:
Backup Center (You know I have done some mods to it, but the dev it not responding)
I really don’t like to upload to public, and to keep/do support on stuff that is not mine, from the beginning.
But still like to keep an app like this alive.
And since cli seems not to be an option
