I have a Homey PRO system and Somfy curtains that use the 433 MHz system, as far as I know. The problem is that, quite often, the signal doesn’t reach the curtains. I discovered that the Homey PRO was too far away from the curtains, so I bought a Homey Bridge to resolve the issue. I updated the curtain settings so that the transmission should go through the Homey Bridge instead of the Homey PRO. The Homey Bridge is placed very close to the curtains, but the curtains still lag or don’t work at all. This makes me think the Homey Bridge isn’t handling the transmission. Any advice on what to do would be greatly appreciated.
Dis you follow this: https://support.homey.app/hc/en-us/articles/7263667137052-Setting-up-Satellite-Mode-for-Homey-Pro-Early-2023
And can you as example put the led ring on an off this trur your main Homey.
And then remove it from your main homey. And then add them again true the bridge.
It is not that you can use the old registration tru your main Homey. The somyfy must now his "new"way true the bridge.
That is not how it works with RF 433 Mhz devices, you don’t have to remove!!!
from the link above:
Using Satellite Mode
Homey Bridge can also act as a transmitter for your Infrared and 433 MHz devices. You can use Homey Pro or one of your Homey Bridges as an antenna per device.
For example, if you have a TV in the bedroom, place Homey Bridge near it. Homey Bridge will transmit Infrared signals to the TV instead of Homey Pro in your living room.Follow the steps below to set this up.
Step 1
Navigate to the Advanced Settings of a 433 MHz or Infrared device and tap
Antenna
etc.
That part isn’t true, Homey just repeats the signal from the RF Transmitter / Pro antenna self or from the RF Transmitter from any selected Satellite (Bridge)
@Dijker Yes, what you wrote helped me because it made me try moving the Bridge around, thinking that it simply repeats the signal. Placing it too far away from the PRO turned out to be the problem. I believe it was a radio shadow issue. I had assumed the Bridge used WiFi to determine what to send.
I have a question: is it the same with Zigbee? Does the Bridge also work as a repeater for Zigbee signals in the same way?
That is the case, it doesn’t repeat 433 Mhz, Homey Sends the command over Wifi so the bridge transmits the RF 433 Mhz signal.
No not the Same way,
So it joins the Zigbee Mesh or Z-Wave Mesh and doesn’t use Wifi.
@Dijker But now I’m confused because it doesn’t make sense that the 433 MHz signal started working with my curtains after I moved the Bridge. I don’t have any issues with WiFi coverage. When I tested turning the LED on the Bridge on and off at the old position, it worked without any latency, but the curtains still didn’t respond. How can this be?
RF433 disturbance? it is cheap but unreliable… no acknowledgements, just fire and forget…
Ok. I guess it’s that.
