The below was the original reach out to the developer community for assistance but we’re away and working fine with the app. The biggest challenge is knowing the specific quirks of the Ikuu range of devices - shame the supplier isn’t all that helpful about the details :frowning:

So if you speak with Mercator Ikuu, make sure you mention that you’d like to see them make an effort to support the app development so that we can enhance the support of the features of each device.

Hello,

I’m fairly new to Homey but not new to JS development or home automation. In the process of migrating from Hubitat and trying to get familar with the approach taken inside Homey.

Second custom device driver I’ll need to build is one for the locally supported Mercator Ikuu Fan/Light Zigbee switch that has 3 speed fan and on/off light switch built into a single Zigbee wall plate.

The concept in Hubitat is that parent drivers can create child devices for the supported endpoints that are updated via the parent. I’m not really sure if that’s similar in Homey and can’t really find a simple example that does something similar for Zigbee - where the device is a child based on integrating the endpoints and changing the behaviour accordingly.

This is the groovy code for Hubitat that is what I’m trying to migrate from/to…

@Emile are you able to quickly point me to some example or provide some advice here? I think if you have some successful transitions from Hubitat then that might help some other users make the journey into Homey.

I also have an Ikuu product which I’m hoping to connect to - specifically the Zigbee Dimmer Mech and Zigbee Switch Mech which I imagine are similar to your Ikuu Zigbee Single Gang Light Dimmer.

I never got much support from the community or developers so I’ve parked it for now. Happy to revisit this if you’d also like to work on this with me. I have same devices as you actually too.

I’d be happy to help any way I can. I’m just getting these installed as part of a renovation and was trying this evening to connect to one of them and pull some info using Tuya cli but they won’t register

So what specific devices do you have to test with? Also, do you know much about Zigbee and how to code drivers for Homey Pro ? (I’m assuming you do have a Homey Pro right ??)

From the Mercator Ikuu range I have the Dimmer Switch Mechanism (SSWM-DIMZ) and the regular Switch Mechanism (SSWM). These are the first zigbee devices I’ve had. I also have the Ikuu Pro Hub.

No coding experience I’m afraid but can generally follow along. I’ve dabbled with Homebridge and that level of config thus far. I really need the ikuu stuff working with Homey to get value out of it and so and have started to setup the Homey SDK to give it a go and then I saw your post. I can certainly test. I have the Homey Pro, yes.

@robertklep I know this isn’t ideal, but again looking for a simple starting app that would allow me to get a basic Zigbee driver working - the docs tells you to look at GitHub - athombv/com.ikea.tradfri-example: Ikea Trådfri — Example code to inspire your own Homey app. but this seems fairly complex for a simple driver.

Is this just the case of stripping down the app example, or are you better off starting with a blank app and adding the driver and trying to figure it out??

Just seems the learning curve is fairly steep to do something basic like adding a single Zigbee driver.

I recently added a Zigbee driver for a device to an existing app: GitHub - robertklep/MiTempHum-Homey: Homey App for Xiaomi Mi Temperature and Humidity Monitor modded with custom 'ATC' firmware using ATC441 advertising format.

The app is fairly basic so it should be relatively easy to understand. There’s only one driver of interest for you (the Zigbee one) so you can probably take the app as an example, remove the BLE driver, and modify the Zigbee driver to fit your device.

Hey, sorry to sidetrack the conversation slightly - im looking for someone able to get a mercator ikuu outdoor double power point working in homey so i can control both left and right outlets. Id be very greatful if there is scope to add it to whats happening here?

Unfortunately i also have no coding experience, and keep getting to a point of frustration trying to work it out myself following various homey app development guides. Ive interviewed the device but havent had success in my requests to the developer of the Tuya Zigbee app to get both outlets controllable.

Any advice or guidance to get this happening would be appreciated - happy to put my hand in my pocket if it results in a working outcome.

I hope to get these working as part of a Mercator Ikuu app for Homey, but like you I’m struggling with the way things are supposed to be done in the world of Homey.

I have got this working fairly easily with Hubitat and Groovy, but the learning curve for Homey’s Zigbee Drivers is a little more complex, so hang in there and I’m sure I’ll get this done… I’ll definitely post back here once I’ve got an App ready for someone to test.

Do you have any other Mercator devices?

I have got a zigbee Dimmer switch mechanism in a box that i would be happy to wire up and interview if it supports your work.

if you get these working, id also be happy to chat to the local electrical shop to borrow other devices to build up the app.

Okay, so have started the app, and early days, but WIP and I should hopefully get something working soon as the dimmer (which I also have) is fairly easy. I’m starting with the fan/light switch as I’d like to get that working as I have them in a few more places than the dimmer.

I actually have this Light Dimmer | Ikuü device instead but I hope that it works the same. If you can, can you grab the Interview log from your Homey for your device? (just add the device and run the Interview on this page Homey Developer Tools)

ive just dug up the switch, and realised why i hadnt used it, its the wifi version, and just normal on/off.

@gslender i see you’ve just released the Mercator Ikuu homey app. Is this solely for the dimmer and fan controller so far? Currently about to fit out our place with Mercator ikuu light switches and have yet to find anyone have them working in homey. If it’s going to be too complicated I’ll end up going with home assistant.

Yep, I also have a bunch of various devices, so will eventually aim to cover more of them

Note that the issue will be having clear and confirmed docs on what the devices need to function / report / command etc… that will be needed regardless if you stick with Homey or switch to HA. If you’re aware of these devices being used successfully in HA, then share the link and details as it will only serve to help make them work with Homey.
