Loading issues Homey Homescreen on Samsung Phone

Hi community,

Since 3 weeks my Samsung Galaxy A54 has big difficultie with loading widgets on my Homey homescreen. Especially the community widgets.

Where in the past loading did not take more than 5 seconds, now it can take +30 seconds or it does not load at all. Emptying the cache of the Homey app or restarting my phone isn’t resolving the issue.

  • Does anyone experiencing the same issue?
  • Does anyone have an idea?
  • @Doekse do you know about this issue?

On my wife’s Oppo (also android) I don’t see the same issue. And in the meantime I change my Homey Pro Early 2023 for a Homey Pro 2026 (I didn’t upgrade just because of my described issue). This didn’t solve the issue either.

I’ve seen many other posts about the same issue recently, I also received an issue on one of my own apps from someone who had a similar issue on iOS. It must be related to the mobile app and specific configurations.

I haven’t noticed any issues on my Galaxy S24 FE (I have a Homey Pro 2019)

Hi Homies

Is there anyone who can point me in the right direction.

9 out of 10 times, nothing loads on the home screen
Sometimes the Homey app freezes during startup

This what I have tried:

  1. I have reinstalled the Homey app
  2. I have reset the Ziggo router
  3. I have reset the Orbi router
  4. I have restarted Homey
  5. I have removed all widgets from the home screen and added them back one by one

Official Homey apps cause far fewer issues than community widgets
I have always had the same number and type of widgets on my home screen, but the problems started one month ago
For the past 2 weeks I’ve been using a Homey 2026 instead of a 2023. However, I have the issue with both. The 2023 is now switched off
All my dashboards with the same widgets as my home screen do not have any issues
Cleared the cache of the Homey app
Using 5G or Wi-Fi on my phone makes no difference

That’s because community widgets are essentially web pages getting loaded into a WebView. Official Homey widgets (except for the Web frame) are native widgets that are loaded natively in the Homey app. It’s likely an issue with the web pages, you should report it to Athom:

Hi @smarthomesven I already spend 4 emails towards Homey support about this subject. This is there last answer:

Ik zie dat je problemen hebt met widgets van community apps. Helaas kunnen wij daar niks in veranderen. Ik zou je daarom willen adviseren om contact op te nemen met de app developers.

I see that you are having problems with widgets from community apps. Unfortunately, we cannot change that. I would therefore advise you to contact the app developers.

So the issue is with all community widgets (from multiple apps)? Then you should contact Athom again, since it’s from multiple community apps (the Homey mobile app loads them as HTML pages, so that’s likely not something the community developers can fix).

Also… the community widgets on the homescreen are not loaded 9 out of 10 times. The exact same widgets on the dashboard are always loaded.
