Hey there. After doing everything I can think of, I hope to find some help here. I recently bought a Homey and an LG G6. I was able to connect everything to my Homey except for my LG G6. What I did:
I managed to connect the LG G6 to my iPhone. I’m able to start and shut down the LG using my iPhone
Wifi devices CAN communicate with each other
Disabled “Quick Start+” did not help (with proper restart , detaching the TV from power)
Hard reboots did not help either
Local LG app does work but does not catch the state (it only starts it or shuts it down with no state tracking)
I connected the LG and Homey to my main 5 Ghz network
What happens if I start the LG ThinQ integration is that I first select the device which is TV. It looks for my TV and finds it after a few seconds. After confirming it, the Homey app requests me to “Enter the code that is displayed on the (TV) screen”. There is no such code popping up. I restarted my smartphone, the ThinQ app and my TV but this did not help. I tried the Smarter ThinQ which does not list any TV. I would really love to connect the LG to Homey and hope someone in here has a solution
I tried the Smarter ThinQ app but it does not give me any TVs nor does the Homey App entry show TV as a device.
I have written a message to that mail.
I was able to narrow it down. Other remote app do work and immediately prompt a pin. I can also ping the IP address of my TV directly. The Homey ThinQ integration is probably broken and I probably need to wait - hopefully
I had the same issue after updating WebOS. The TV was still visible in Homey, but it stopped responding in Flows.
After removing the TV, I couldn’t pair it again because the PIN code was no longer shown on the TV.
The developer confirmed this was caused by the recent update. I installed test version 1.0.6, and that fixed the issue. The PIN code is shown again and the TV can be paired normally.
LG says an official 1.0.6 release with this fix should be available soon.
It was all about 1.0.6 and their strange way of releasing updates into the official channel (or should I say their non-existing way). It seems like the latest stable version was 1.0.3. Even though Homey showed me 1.0.6 as the latest version, I had to click on TEST in order to install it. That solved my issue. Thanks again
Correct. It annoys me the, in this case, the test versions v1.0.4. and v 1.0.5 changelogs do not have a “Test” tag of some kind.
Note:
This is not a strange way of publishing releases just by LG, this is generic for all apps, and developers are subject to how information about Test versions is (not) shown by the way Athom likes it.
It also annoys me the “last updated” info on app pages is solely mentioning the stable version, which apparently was reseased two years ago:
For a number of users, this makes any app appear as
A. app is finished, no functional updates needed
B. developers lost interest
C. app might be abandoned
However, not everyone follows the “View changelog” link, not knowing the REAL “last updated” release is mentioned in that listing
Can you please tell or show me where you found that announcement?
(because, to my knowledge Homey natively does not announce releases of test versions when you have a stable app version running).
It was just showing the 1.0.6 in the changelog as latest version. After I clicked on “test”, I was put into the test channel and was able to install 1.0.3. I thought I had installed the most recent version just to find out that it was indeed 1.0.3. Very confusing but at least it worked with the test version
