KNMI app stopped working since 19-5-25

Hi, since a day I don’t get any new data from the Dutch weather KNMI app on my Homey Bridge.
It used to work, but since a day the data doesn’t refresh. I did not update / make any changes to my system. I rebooted, but no change.

When I click on the device (knmi app for my hometown) I get a red box with a lot of (developer)data.
Does anybody know if the KNMI app is still working (for you)?
What could I do to solve this?
Can I check with the app developer? How to?
Thanks!
Ruud

Looks like it’s working just fine overhere :

Johan, thanks for letting me know. That points somehow to my setup.
I wonder if my homey did too many checks / polls this month so I used the max number of allowed.
I also don’t know if there is a max number for this API :-o

Some issues here..

The restart app option, that’s hp23 only?

No, also HP2019, but you need to enable Experiments - Power User under System

Guys, you’re discussing two different KNMI apps.
The one TS is using must be the ‘official’ app, because only that one is available for Homey Cloud.

Please call it Homey Cloud
Homey Bridge is just a piece of hardware, not even needed by the KNMI app.

That’s always the case for ‘free’ accounts.
Not sure what you did, maybe you got rate limited: waiting til tomorrow might solve it.

How did you reboot Homey Cloud?

Hi Peter, thank you, and I should have said I’m running my apps on homey Cloud!
With rebooting I meant - I restarted the bridge, but that probably doesn’t reset anything that runs in de the cloud. I have no idea if restarting my flows and anything else in the cloud can be restarted.
I waited a day (problem started 1 am in the morning yesterday) but I will give it more time.
The message I got when I click on the KNMI device (setup for my home town) responds to following message:
foutmelding knmi
As you clarified, because I’m a cloud user, I don’t have the options (Power user, restart KNMI app)

One remarkeble thing that happened the day before:
Any “when card” dealing with KNMI data change (eg. when Wind direction changes) resulted in double triggers, with the same set of old value / new value.

Any more I can do besides waiting?
Thanks all !

No problem!

Restarting the bridge isn’t useful in this case. You can however restart Homey Cloud by temporary changing the language (and back), or the button on this page
https://tools.developer.homey.app/tools/system
It might help, you never know :winking_face_with_tongue:

I can’t read the text on your screenshot :face_with_monocle: can you post a much bigger resolution?

I just installed the app @ my test Homey Cloud, and it works fine.

One thing you can do: install the app again, from the app store; Do not delete it up front.

And report your issues to the app’s topic! Maybe the developer can help / might be interested in the error messages.

Thank you for your excellent tips!

I did restart Homey Cloud
I reïnstalled the KNMI app.
And everything is working again!
Flows making use of the KNMI data are working again
The KNMI device for my hometown shows recent data.

Thanks a lot ! Can you explain what caused these problems?
Are above the general things I should do when it happens again?
Here is the red error screen, in bigger size. (this is before the problem was solved)

Nice to hear!
No clue what was wrong, it’s probably ‘bitrot’.
Maybe it’s valuable info, I’ll forward it to Athom’s Slack channel.

Well, often a reboot helps with computers on general, and installling an app ‘again’, fixes possible memory issues, and maybe even storage issues).
@ Homey it’s important to not just remove-and-install-again, because you’ll lose the app’s devices, and it breaks all flows involved. Often an additional install ‘over an app’ gets an app in line again.

One more question :
When I reboot Homey Cloud, it looks like the variables are not reset / initialized.

Is that correct? Can I rely on that?

Thanks!

Can you give an example?
Because I always hope my variables keep their values and not get reset/initialised after Homey restarts?
