Joining Wifi crash the dialog

Trying to add the dongle to my Homey but dialog crash when it tries to join my wifi and the dongle gets ”disconnected”.

So this might be normal when trying to send of the wifi to a smart device. However after it says it cant connect and i press the blue connect button the dialog crash. In my devices it says disconnected.

And the dongle goes blinking pink for a while to blinking white and repeats.

Edit

Ok so the problem is power from the P1 port. I have a Landis+Gyr E360 LTE i cannot find exact documentation but i know its not old and i think its ESMR5.

Thing is it works with Tibber p1 energy meter without issues and Homey energy dongle its not working.

So question to Athom why does your energy p1 dongle demands more power that does not work out of the box for Sweden most common electric meter?

Will you send an outdoor USB power plug and call the electrician for a new outlet and pay for it? :slight_smile:

Based on what I understand, there are three scenarios when it comes to providing additional power via USB:

  • Your meter provides enough power for both completing the initial setup and for regular operation of the dongle. Extra USB-power is not needed;
  • Your meter provides enough power for regular operation, but not for completing the initial setup. You need to connect the dongle to an additional power source during setup. After which you can remove it;
  • Your meter does not provide enough power for regular operation of the dongle nor for the setup process. You will need to always provide the dongle with additional power via the USB connector.

Just try to setup the dongle with additional power connected and then remove it afterwards. Then you will know which scenario applies to you.

Further, and specifically related to your Landis + Gyr E360 meter: there is/was an issue with connecting it to Homey. A fix will be implemented in the next firmware update, which is currently in beta (v12.4.4-rc.2). Also refer to the firmware changelog.

If you really like Athom to reply, you’d reach out to Support.

Athom and power (supplies) somehow always have been a problem (for some). They’d hire better electricians I guess :zany_face:

  • Homey 2016-2019: power unit can slowly deteriate over time, causing the normally 5VDC output voltage getting too low
  • Homey Pro 2023: the first batches got delivered with 5.0VDC power units, while it needs 5.2VDC, especially when an ethernet dongle is added.
  • Energy dongle: “could need” an additional power supply when you happen to have a meter with an “insufficient” P1 power supply for Athom’s Energy dongle

Yes i noticed that there was a update for Landis Gyr in the Homey firmware. So i updated before trying external power, so i was on rc.2 or higher when i tried. Did not help.

But i will try your suggestion to remove the external power now after it has been setup and see if it helps. Thing is that it might work because it was never blinking red until it stated it was updating and rebooting in loop. Red blinking came after like 2-5min

Well yes. Have changed power supply a couple of times for my “Homies”. Really like the product but its a bit weird that they miss the “simple” things sometimes :slight_smile:
