I started to test Homey today.
So I installed self-hosted server on a Raspi400.
After the server started up I tried to add my Lifx, so opened the Lifx-App and connected via the API-Key and all devices had been found (via API) but all appear as offline (which they weren’t).
Next Apple (completely faild, but ok… )
Next my PV worked for the Inverter, but not for the battery
Easee wallbox worked.
I stoped trying eve devices as I had to add them all by hand and if lifx is not accessbile I don’t need to add the eve sensors.
To be honest, my experience with Homey is disastrous…
After reading your post, it sounds a bit of “wrong choice” here, you probably expected a plug&play application.
Maybe I’m wrong, but you seem a bit disappointed to discover it didn’t fit your expectations right away.
Self-Hosted Server is not a trial or test thing, it’s not a plug&play version; you’re supposed to know your stuff and troubleshoot yourself (with help from here, no problem).
Now you only complain on a users forum, which is not going to help.
What I mean is, just ask for help if you need it.
Reading manuals helps as well.
No, I did not expect plug and play, but e.g lifx. It seemed to work fine, authentication worked, all light bulbs have been listed, I added them to the right location and as soon as I was finished all bulbs had a red warning triangle (could not connect)
Or all
Apple devices … appears in the app, for Apple TV it asks for “code that appears on screen” but there is no code (but in that case I wouldn’t wonder if it’s apples fault)
later yesterday evening I also tried the self-hosted macOS-Version. Same problems.
A YT-Vid about Homey states that it can integrate HomeKit although still under experimental … unfortunately no HomeKit switch in my experimental settings.
Regarding the Apple TV, ensure that AirPlay is enabled for everyone on the same network (not the everyone option). This setting can be found under AirPlay & HomeKit in the Settings app.
Need to explain that a bit better in the pairing flow
The HomeKit experiment is probably limited to Homey hardware, since it runs in a Docker container. You can always try to install the HomeKitty app: HomeKitty | Homey
