Integrating YoLink devices with Homey

Has anyone figured how to integrate YoLink devices with Homey?

YoLink makes great devices and sensor that communicate via LoRa technology. Extremely long range (up to 1/4 mile) and long battery life (up to 2 years).

I have a small YoLink network of devices I’d like to bring into Homey but have not been able to figure out how to do it.

I bought YoLink’s “Local Hub” which supports Matter but those Matter devices are uncertified and won’t integrate with Homey.

Appreciate any help!

Maybe you can use MQTT as “man in the middle”

Thanks for the reply.

I tried that but it didn’t work. Perhaps I was doing something wrong. Will have to research it more.

Any change of an official Yolink Homey integration, @Doekse?

@Armand_Girard:

In case you run Home Assistant too:

There’s an integration for that:

And with the Home Assistant App for Homey you might be able to import the devices into Homey:

You can upvote a Homey app for Yolink here:

These devices seem very promising. I definately wanna give it a try for connecting my mailbox (for notifications when the mailman has been) that is a few stories below…

I see some remarks about Matter support for the hub as well. And it should support Alexa, Google Home and IFTT. Perhaps there’s something possible there.

I bought the YoLink Local Hub which supports Matter, thinking that this would be an easy way to get YoLink devices into Homey. Unfortunately, it was a failure.

The YoLink devices came in to Homey as uncertified Matter devices which Homey would not connect with.

I also tried the Home Assistant route (YoLink to HA, HA to Homey) and that did not work either.

After a lengthy support session with YoLink, I ended up returning the Local Hub.

Still waiting for someone to come up with a YoLink app for Homey.

Homey has no hardware support for LoRa, so you’re going to need that hub anyway.

My thought is that (if YoLink has an API), someone could write an app that connects to Homey’s server since all Homey devices are cloud based.

I returned the Local Hub because YoLink was pretty clear that they were not interested in becoming Matter certified.

You need a hardware device that will take the LoRa signals and provide a (local or cloud) API for Homey apps to communicate with.

What didn’t work in the Home Assistant route?
Did the devices show up and react correctly in HA?

I would also be very happy if a Homey app would connect to a Yolink hub (local or cloud) and import those devices into Homey like the Ikea Tradfri/Dirigera Gateway of Hue (without bridge) app does.

When trying to bring in the devices from HA to Homey, they came in as uncertified Matter devices which Homey would not connect to.

Yes, ideally the best and easiest solution would be if an app would just connect to a YoLink server or hub.

There’s a (community) Home Assistant app that probably would have worked. It exposes HA devices to Homey using the HA API.

I got my speaker hub and 2 doorsensors yesterday and connected them to HA. With the HA community app (see here) was able to import those HA devices into Homey.

Hopefully @Doekse can seduce YoLink to develop an app for Homey (or Athom to create it themselve… )

And must say: range is GREAT! Finally seem to have found a solution for my mailbox 2 stories below my apartment, no other protocol reached that far (and I was unable to place extra routers in the middle) time will tell if it keeps working as it is now, but first impression is awesome.
Even with the sensor placed inside the metal mailbox (almost a faraday cage) the hub still says signal strength is “strong”.
