Integrating multitap, long press and combined taps for Senic/Gira Friends of Hue Switch in Homey

Hi Homey Community,

I’m new to Homey and currently trying to integrate my Senic/Gira Friends of Hue switches (link) with Homey, and I could use some help or tips from those who’ve tackled a similar challenge.

Current Setup

  • The switch is connected via the Hue Bridge and is detected in Homey as a “Hue Tap” switch.
  • Using the Hue Essentials app (iOS), I can configure advanced functionality like:
    • Multitap actions (single, double, triple, and quadruple taps).
    • Long press actions for each button.
    • Combined taps , such as pressing both top buttons simultaneously.

These advanced triggers work perfectly within the Hue ecosystem, but I’d like to replicate this functionality to start flows in Homey.

Challenges

To triger Homey flows only basic actions (single taps) seem to be possible. Advanced interactions like multi-tap, long presses, and combined taps aren’t available as triggers in Homey flows.

Questions for the Community

  1. Has anyone managed to integrate multitap or long-press functionality for this switch in Homey?
  • Is there a specific app or workaround I might be missing?
  1. Would removing the Hue Bridge and directly pairing the switch with Homey improve functionality?
  • I’m hesitant to remove the bridge because I also use it for other Hue devices and scenes.
  1. Is there a specific flow or logic setup (e.g., timers or variables) that could emulate multi-tap functionality in Homey?
  • For instance using the Chronograph App to simulate multi-taps using counters and timers in Homey (though this seems cumbersome ).

I’d love to replicate the multitap, long-press, and combined-press functionality in Homey flows. If anyone has experience with this or suggestions on how to achieve it, I’d really appreciate your input.

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,

Bram

EDIT: I just saw this elsewhere on this forum: Advanced Flow voor KAKU schakelaar (meerdere malen indrukken) I will try this approach.

Hi Homey Community,

After some experimenting, I found a solution for achieving multitap functionality with my Senic/Gira Friends of Hue switches in Homey. I built on an idea shared for KAKU switches (link in the original thread) and adapted it using the Advanced Flow Editor. Below, a screenshot of the flow:

An alternative flow (including a timer, to prevent toggling through scenes), this might work better depending on the context

This setup allows you to simulate multitap functionality even if the device or integration doesn’t natively support it. Hope this helps others searching for a similar solution.
