Integrate Tado X into homey pro

I’ve the new Tado X installed, thermostats, 2 bridges and several knobs. I can integrate them into google home, integrate them in smart life or tuya, but can’t get them in my homey pro.
The Tado and Tadozones app always ask to connect them by matter, and put the devices in learning mode (not necessary for google home or tuya), but cannot find how to put devices in learning mode…… If tuya and GH can find the devices simply over matter, why can’t homey?

I struggled with this as well…
Do a factory reset of your knobs (asume you are talking about radiator thermostats), then they enter pairing mode again and you can add them to Homey.
You don’t have to remove them from the Tado app before doing the factory reset.
Factory reset: Remove and reinsert the battery. Press and hold the tado logo. And again press to confirm factory reset.
This worked for me.

Found an easier way. Apparently the matter code changes on install, this way the code on the knob (or card from the box) works only on first install. In the tado app, go to the knob or thermostat that you want to add in the settings menu. At the bottom you can choose to couple and generate a new matter code. With this code you can smply add your knobs and thermostat to your homey (copy & paste)

Hello, that sounds good, where did you find the new matter code?

and now you can work with the thermostats in the Tado app and in Homey?

THX Michael

In Tado, go to setting. Open the knob or thermostat you want to couple.
At the bottom you can find a menu to couple the device. If the menu opens choose to generate a code and press the copy button.
Now open the homey app add a device and xhoose the tado app. Choose the device you want to add. Than you choose if you want to add by homey or android/ios. I’ve choosen for android, cause you have to be near the device, make sure bluetooth is on! Then you’re been asked to scan the qr, deny that and push the line just beneath it to add a code manually. Paste the copied code and start connecting near the device.

Hi Michael,

My question is most likely a proof of an error code-40 =P
But i dont even have the “menu to couple the device”, when i’m in the tado, android app.
Do you use the beta version of the app?

Kinds regards

I use the standard tado app in android, keep in mind this is the workaround for the X-version. The V3 version justworks by login.

For iOS it worked pretty well without using the tadoX-bridge.

  1. In the tado app, allow connecting to your home.
  2. In Apple Home: add new tado x device, scan the matter code of the valve
  3. In tado: add new device and scan the same code again. Follow the installation steps
  4. In Homey: add new device. Choose the iOS-option. Scan code again.

Works perfectly without a tado bridge. Home, tado-app and homey can control the valve without any restrictions or limitations.

Before buying Homey Pro would like to know:
Can the Tado X Heat pump Optimizer be added to Homey Pro?

Hey Rainer, what you mean with Choose iOS option ? I didnt have this option in the Tado App in Homey. I have V 1.3.1
I can choose the “smart radiator” and then tado aks for “Tado credentials” and then shows me “no devices” here i have no options :frowning:
Can you help me with this ?

Works for me, thank you. I’ve had the same issue that homey couldn’t find the thermostat or knob with the code from the card.

I have the same problem here

Worked great for me using the share code trick in the Tado app

Been working flawlessly for the past week now.

I can add my devices in the Tado app, however not in Homey. I can add the Homey app in Tado. When adding devices, I am asked to login to Homey, which works. I can close the screen, but no new devices found. And there is no option to use the camera to scan a QR code.
In the Tado app I open the settings for the device and get an error message at the bottom that connecting with Matter devices is not available. Not sure if this is the reason. How to fix this?

Note that I was able to add the device in google Home, as there I got the option to scale a QR code. But I want to use Homey

Odd. You should be logged in to Homey to even have the possibility to add devices?

When you have a Google Hub, you probably add them as Matter device to Google.
Not sure if you can add them next to Homey, as Matter device.

You probably need to factory reset the tado devices, and then solely try to pair them with Homey per instructions:

You have to generate a new matter code in the original Tado app, that code you can copy to the ‘Homey Tado App’

Hi everyone!

I’d like to ask for your help with my problem.
I bought a Tado Wireless Starter Kit. The kit includes 1 Wireless X thermostat and 1 Wireless X receiver.

As a first step, I added the receiver in the Tado Android app. That worked without any issues.
As a second step, I tried adding the thermostat in the app. It was detected, but in the second step it kept searching for the bridge. Since I didn’t have one (and based on the marketing text I didn’t think I needed it), the pairing failed.

After this, I added the thermostat to Homey via Matter without any problems. And voilà — from that point on, the Tado app also recognized the thermostat. I was really happy…

Unfortunately, after some time I noticed that the thermostat was controlling the boiler in a strange way. Sometimes it overheated the room compared to the set temperature, other times it didn’t start heating / trigger the relay at all. In short, the operation seemed unreliable.

So I ordered a Tado X Bridge. It arrived, and first I removed the thermostat from the Tado app, then from Homey as well.
Next, I added the Bridge to the Tado Android app, then the thermostat. This way everything seems accurate and reliable now — the boiler starts exactly when it should. I’m happy…

After that, I tried (because this was my original goal) to add Tado to Homey — and FAILURE!
At the moment it seems to me that if the thermostat is added to Tado, further integration is no longer possible. I really don’t want to believe this. I must be doing something wrong somewhere.

Oh, and in the Tado app, under the Wireless Temperature Sensor it says:
“Matter device linking is currently unavailable.”

Sorry if I was too detailed.

Hi!

You go into settings in the “Tado app → settings” and then tap on the first thermostat you have there, and then scroll all the way down to the bottom and tap on “Matter device linking”, then wait a few seconds and then a page will appear “link a Matter compatible app”, there you scroll to the left and take the one called “Use pairing code” and tap on it and wait a few seconds.
Then you will get a code.

Then go to Homey and add a new device “Matter”, then you write the code in the dialog box that appears, after a few taps and your thermostat will be added. Do this for your other thermostats. You do not have to add the X bridge.

You will then have a lot of flow to work with.

Hope this helped…

In case you use the Homey tado app, you’d try the tadoZones community app.
I can’t say anything relating Matter, but that community app is quite sophisticated compared to the “official” one.

Plus, you can run both apps side-by-side to play with it.
