Does somebody know if it’s possible to put a notification on the display? That would be awesome.

Another question, is the wall mount compatible with a flush-mounted box?
We’ll also dive into this in the podcast, but the Homey Portal comes with both a desk mount and a wall mount.
The wall mount is designed to be attached directly to the wall using two screws, so you can place the Portal pretty much anywhere you like. There isn’t a dedicated mounting option for flush-mounted wall boxes.
That said, we’ll be publishing the mount designs as open source (Link), so people can create and adapt their own mounts for different use cases. So hey, why not create a dedicated mount for that LG refrigerator

In my home i use both of them. Right now 22 wired and 16 wireless devices connected. 7 of devices are PoE’d.
Simple/simplified reason - i can always connect one more eth cable, but i can NOT connect/extend one more 2.4 freq range for ZB / Thread

What are the dimensions of the portal itself? I am wondering if it will cover a round flush box in the Netherlands to replace a Rithum.
It probably won’t cover it completely, but if someone cooks up a Gira 55 mount or something similar, I think it could look pretty flush.

It’s 2.8 inches, or 7.1 cm, diagonally. Good to note as well that the screw holes should line up with a standard flush-mounting box, as commonly used throughout Europe.

The device itself looks really premium. I understand there are many different flush boxes (round, square, rectangular) however it feels not right to print/use a backplate if someone has the possibility to hang it on the flush mount box without a visible cable..
Normally you screw the baseplate on the flush mount. And the screw holes align. There is an opening in the backplate to guide the cable into the flush mount (if I see it correctly on the images), so you can mount it w/o a visible cable.
Yes I saw that too. A flush mount box is 80mm and the portal 71mm. I pre-ordered one out of curiosity anyway, even though I am not 100% convinced yet and doubt the backplate will cover on the flush mount box out of the box 
@Doekse can you show us an example how it looks on the flush mount box?
The screen is 2.8 inch, the device itself will be a little bit bigger because of the rotating ring and bezel.
The tiny hands in all the pictures do make it seem a lot bigger then 2.8 inch though

Did I miss something, or is this €299 thing really permanently tethered to a cable? I would expect something at this price to be genuinely PORTAbLe. Something I can carry around the room, have next to me on the couch while relaxing and listening to music, then move to my desk while working. At the end of the day, I would put it on a dock to charge overnight.
And if it were portable, we would not need to buy 10 of them. There could simply be an option to change the zone being controlled while walking around the house. But I guess they want to sell you 10 of them. Good luck with that.
Does it at least support being hard wired, so I do not have to have a cable dangling down my wall?
I really wish Homey would focus more on delivering what we actually want, such as fully flexible web based dashboards that we could run on inexpensive wall mounted screens like Sonoff wall panels. But thinking about it… cheap, readily available hardware that can run web based dashboards would basically be the end of this kind of product. So I guess we are never getting web based dashboards.
Also, I noticed that in the presentation video, when the available shortcuts are shown, there is no “Camera” shortcut. Does that mean it cannot support a live camera view? If it does, the round display is really not suitable for video. A significant portion of the video would end up being cropped out.
My impression is that it feels and looks like an overpriced gimmick product, something Samsung/Sony/LG would try to sell you… oh wait…

You’ll be able to control all of them, or group them right in the Lights App, or create specific shortcut with the chosen lights that can be opened from the homescreen.
Was about to preorder, but then saw that it is supposedly not compatible with my Homey Pro ‘19 (let alone my 2016 edition)… Obviously, neither is new, but having to completely replace the stuff I have at home (€499 + €249) is just too steep. Too bad that those who were among Athom’s earliest supporters seem to be left out.
