All jokes aside about the price a serious reaction would be appreciated. How can it be that I can buy two LG 29” ultrawides. For the price of this?
I understand that you need to maintain the firmware, but that goes for more devices. Even a price of 99 euro and a small monthly fee would be understandable. Or a price of 150 euro where that is bought-off. Basically what you do with the self-hosted Homey, but then cheaper since this is an add-on device.
I’m genuinely interested what the logic behind this price point is. If you can’t make a profit for less then that seems like a big risk as a company to me.
Honestly? I hoped for something like this - but in a bigger package. Still - I like the idea as well as the build quality seems nice.
Hope that this product gets a bigger brother one day, until then I am sticking with an old iPad.
Yeah… should have offered different sizes, like a small version for Small Zones (Game-room, kitchen, office, etc.) and a bigger version for a Greater Zone (Living-room, etc) with different price points…
Eg.:
2.8 inch - 149 euro
4.8 inch - 249 euro
6.8 inch - 399 euro
I think you could simply develop a Homey portal app for your phone (Android/iOS); that way, you wouldn’t need a separate device.
P.S. Google is still the fastest way to control home devices; why would I use the Homey portal if it takes five times longer?
It’s very disappointing. I hope it turns out to be a success for Athom, but I consider the chances of that very slim—it was poorly thought out.
250€ is a lot. On the other hand it is not if you compare Homey with professional/enterprise level hardware, e.g. Gira G1. For Athom to compete with the Home Assistant environment; you can only loose as you will never beat the price tags of the solution created there. For myself I decided against HA as I do not have the luxuy to spend so much time on my home automations. Investing in something like KNX; you will get enterprise level quality, stability, a robust solution, and quality for a price tag that is at least 3-5 times of what Athom is charging for their gear. That is a pretty high level comparison or argumentation, but I hope you get my point.
I would be really interested to see the 3-5 years strategy from Athom/LG for the Homey platform to better understand the market segment they are targeting. 
Why I’ve pre-ordered one: I expect Athom to deliver a good hardware quality, ensure that Homey Portal is working seamlessly with Homey and all connected devices, support for at least 5-10 years incl. rolling out new features when available, and continous efforts to ensure that the big ones are officially supporting Homey as a platform (btw where are we with Hyundai? 
)

Wow!! Is that price for real? €250 is a joke, seriously. Did you even do any market research? Whoever set that needs a reality check.
It looks nice but for this price, no way. I use Dashboard Studio in Homey Pro 2026 and this is perfect. You can use any tablet with this, so use a simple tablet and your done. And that does not cost 299 euro’s!!!
I might get one for my office desk when its on offer but tbh the Apple Homepad will smoke this for downstairs, especially if you’re already invested in Thread

You make a good point and there are other options such as Rithum, which I own, but that also has native integration with a ton of other services like Bluesound + PoE support.

I think it’s pretty obvious who they are targeting
People who bought and would have bought the Shelly XL display, but were very disappointed by the performance. The market is there, but lack of PoE support is disappointing and limits it’s usability.
Not everyone has PoE at home or in every room. And a RJ45 connector on the back would make things clunky.
Specs are not clear yet, so maybe it works the same as Homey Pro where the power connection is USB-C and you can use a PoE adapter.
A better question would be: “Who still uses Ethernet in 2026?”. Not many people that I know of at least, most just use WiFi. At least not home users, which is where this product was intended for
I am curious about something; I have some virtual devices as ‘toggles’ for auto-mode (e.g. sun screens: do they automatically respond to the weather sensors, and another for ‘holiday mode’). The announcement said you can add shortcuts to devices to Portal. If I would add these virtual devices, would it also show the toggle status as it does in the Homey app? So I can see at a screen on my wall if auto-modes are toggled on or off?
I have 15 lights in my zone. Can I control some of them (I can pick witch) or I control all by Light button on main screen?
I ordered one but I also think it is to expensive (especially by assuming that we give one to each room)
