Hi everyone, I’ve read many topics on this forum and of course the official Homey website (this page in particular: Somfy RTS Appli pour Homey | Homey)
My setup is quite simple really: I want to build fully integrated network of devices that will all ultimately be controlled with Home Assistant’s Green. I also have a Somfy RTS blind which cannot be controlled this way. I was advised to purchase a Homey Bridge box to act as, yes, a bridge, between Somfy and Green.
I’m at step one today: I received the product, and before opening its box I came to perform a final check on here. I realise there is quite some confusion between Homey Pro and Homey Bridge. The webpage I provided above actually says that Somfy RTS is available on Homey Pro and Homey Cloud but no mention whatsoever of Homey Bridge. Did I buy the wrong box?
Homey Pro is most Local Automation and has all Radio’s and antenna’s on board (included).
Homey Cloud is eh… Cloud Automation, runs in a Datacenter, and has no antenna’s in your home.
so the Homey Bridge can provide the Radio’s and antenna’s for your Homey Cloud in your home.
But if it is the best way to connect Home Assistant’s Green to the RTS, I don’t know,
I think Homey and Home Assistant’s are on many parts competitive and in your home have overlapping options. Managing both side by side can be a hassle.
I think for Home Assistent there are other RF 433MHz solutions,
or just switch compleet to Homey also an option.
Switching entirely to Homey: why not in principle, but this this would mean being tied forever to a subscription model (as I have more than 5 devices to connect). I don’t love the idea of paying an app subscription to be able to flick my lights on.
It sounds like I should explore other 433Mhz solutions.
