Ikea Door Sensor - automatically controls nearest device

Aqara devices are notorious for not always playing nice with many Zigbee router devices. You can find more about this issue in these discussions: Home Assistant Community, Reddit, and Hubitat Community.

Unfortunately, Aqara’s Zigbee implementation remains a bit of a black box, as they haven’t provided any official documentation. This leaves us relying on reverse engineering to make integration possible.

I’ve been in touch with Aqara, and during CES, they mentioned they plan to start sharing their Zigbee implementation documentation. However, I haven’t seen anything materialize yet. Fingers crossed it happens soon!

Noticing the many complaints on the forum, I decided to test an Aqara Temperature & Humidity sensor with an IKEA E14 Tradfri bulb using Zigbee2MQTT a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately, the sensor stopped reporting after just a few hours. So it doesn’t look like a Homey issue to me.

The IKEA team has always been super helpful, so I reached out to them today to see if they might have any insights into what’s going on.

I’ll keep you’ll posted!
