Is there a way to restart the Homey Pro on a regular basis (like at 3 AM daily)? I’m running into problems with my Inovelli White switches and restarting seems to fix the problem, so I’d like to proactively restart the Homey to make sure everything just works for the next day. I did find that functionality in HomeyLink, but right now HomeyLink seems to be non functional for connecting to the box I want to restart. This is all most likely due to lack of memory, I just need to take take to move everything off of the box to my SHS. Which leads me to one more request, if I’m going to be doing all the work to move to SHS anyway, it would be great to be able to use Homey Pro as a Homey Bridge device.
Enable Experiments → Power User to enable additional flow cards. Then you will have Restart Homey as an action card available.
If you have flows that notify you of apps or devices being down or offline, disable them and re-enable them when Homey has restarted.
It takes some time before all apps are restarted. If I ‘just restart’ my Homey I go beserk the first minutes after restart…
Have you tried to just restart the offending app? For me, restarting the Homey causes more problems than it solves. I’ve found that some apps often need a bit of manual intervention after a total restart.
Just curious to the problems you are experiencing? I have several of the same switches that I will be adding to new HP soon.
I have not tried that, but I will. They are connected via matter, so I’m not sure what rebooting the App will do but I can try.
That’s why I want to do it at 3:30 AM. It’s most likely not to cause any conflicts at that time.
They simply stop responding so none of the attached automations work. Because the switches are setup with smart bulbs, that means the switches are basically dead.
A few notes, they are all paired with multi-admin pairing the Apple Home first. But NONE of my Smartwings Matter blinds hooked up the same way have similar problem. The Smartwings are obviously only receiving the the commands, not sending them, but they are the only other Thread/Matter device I have in similar numbers.
Note that for programming the advanced flows, I did have to put in a check if the switch is on or off as the switches report the dim level they are currently set at when in the “off” position. I suppose that’s useful, but also makes simple flows of dim to dim level non functional.
Thank you!!! I figured there was something I was missing.
Do you have the online backup subscription as well? Perhaps you should check the time they are normally are done, to be sure there are no conflicts with a restart. Not sure how such a combination is handled by Homey.
I recommend getting a rj45 adapter to your Homey. I had problems with my google chromecast and had to restart Homey on a schedule but after connecting Homey to ethernet, everything is 100. %.
I’ve got an rj45 adapter for the Homey Pro and have been running it since day 1. It doesn’t seem to affect it loosing connections to the Inovelli white switches. I will give the new firmware a shot to see if that fixes anything.
My fallback option is a programmable power timer, such as Brennenstuhl Zeitschaltuhr mit 10 Schaltprogrammen or similar. I am using one to restart my router every week, as I had a case when the router needed a physical reset and I was away.
Hi Ivan
I had a similar idea and bought a tapo hs100.
This plug is connected via Wi-Fi and has an own app. In this app you can schedule a ‘reboot’ or in my case if the homey is sometimes not available via Internet I can power off and on again from anywhere and make a hardreset. After a view minutes the homey runs pretty good again!
I have about a dozen inovelli white switches and I’m seeing the same behavior you are… however, I’m 99% sure it’s the matter integration and not inovelli, as my issues aren’t unique to inovelli, but instead several specifically matter devices.
I’ve had to restart homey, or restart my router… etc. can I ask, do you possibly have Homey connected to a router that’s on a wireless backhaul? or are you using multiple subnets on your router? oooor do you have an eero?
Eero, no, I got rid of them when we moved into the current house because they kept switching to wireless backhaul (I prefer wired). Wireless backhaul, no only wired (see previous). Multiple sub nets, yes, I use a Firewalla Gold Pro as my router and Firewalla AP7’s for my access points. But my Homey is wired.
Hello. I have a similar issue with my ecobee smart thermostat and created a flow to just restart the ecobee app. You should be able to do the same for your Inovelli app.
Steps to create the flow:
- Start a new flow (I used a standard flow)
- When - use the “Date & time” card
- Then -use the “Apps - restart app” card
