How does Homey Energy Dongle identify devices?

In the official Homey material for Energy Dongle, it shows how much power different, named, devices use - like “XYZ Washing Machine”, “ABC Coffee Brewer” etc.

How does the Energy Dongle identify these devices? Is it a semi-manual approach like:

  1. Add new device
  2. Turn device on/off x times so the dongle knows what to look for

?

It doesn’t, that’s all part of “Homey Energy”. The dongle basically only reads power imported from the grid and power exported to the grid.

It doesnt.

The energy sockets and plugs do that.
