I have a Homey Pro 2023 and I’m currently planning a new gate and fence installation. The gate motor will most likely be Somfy, as my Somfy garage door is already integrated with Homey and works perfectly.
What I’m struggling with is choosing the rest of the system:
- Video intercom / doorbell
- door/gate magnetic sensor/reed switch
- Keypad for opening the gate and wicket door from outside
My priority is reliability and full Homey integration. Since I’m still at the wiring stage, I’d strongly prefer wired solutions (Ethernet/PoE) rather than Wi-Fi to minimize latency and improve stability.
Ideally, when someone rings the intercom, I’d like my iPad to automatically display a live camera view so I can immediately see who’s at the gate. I’m also looking for the possibility of triggering Homey automations based on calls, gate status, keypad events, etc.
Has anyone built a similar setup with Homey? Which devices or brands would you recommend for a fully integrated and highly automated installation?
Any real-world experiences would be greatly appreciated.
