I recently bought a used Homey Pro (Early 2023), but it seems to be stuck in a non-functional state.
The LED ring continuously shows the rotating rainbow/spectrum animation and never changes to any other state. It never shows rotating white on boot, breathing blue (setup mode), or rotating red (factory reset).
The pinhole reset button does physically click, and when holding it during power-up I can enter USB recovery mode and connect with the Homey USB Tool.
However, there are some serious limitations:
The USB tool only allows Create Backup and Restore Backup
Factory Reset and Update Firmware both fail with “Homey not found”
The Homey app cannot detect the device at all
The LED ring never changes state, regardless of reset attempts (8s, 30s, power-on reset, etc.)
Has anyone seen this type of failure before?
Is there any way to force a complete firmware reinstall, bypassing the normal Homey USB tool limitations?
Is there any unofficial Homey Pro (Early 2023) firmware image, recovery image, or alternative image that could be used?
Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated.
I already tried that route, they cannot help directly, the option was to send the unit back to homey for repair but i decided not, because all the costs.
If there is nothing left to try, i throw it in the trash.
Ah too bad. Not sure whether it is an option to contact the seller. It is not unlikely the Homey was already in this state when sold. But he’ll likely claim it was in working condition…
