Homey Pro Early 2023 Offline

Hi my Homey Early 2023 pro has been working fine for a long time but suddenly went offline.

I have been trying to turn off the device for a long time without success.

My network and the switch to my standard version of Homey are working fine.

My Homey Pro glows rainbow-colored, but illuminates offline in both the app and the web version.

Can anyone help?

Iā€™m reading more and more posts about this, Jan.

Please ask for support @ homey.app/support

AFAIK this issue is a (very persistent long lasting) bug.

Thank you for your response. I have already asked Homey for help. They say there is a 3 week waiting period. :scream: :scream: :sob: :-1:

Incidentally, I find that Homeyā€™s cloud system must be affected by a software error when the users are disconnected from the system without warning.
In that situation, a menu should at least be opened where you could log on to your wifi network and subsequently re-establish the connection to the Homey cloud system with your account name and password.
Do you agree?

FYI have send this message to Homey support
Hi Homey.
ā€œSince I have learned that I am only one of your many users who have experienced losing the connection to Homey Early 2023 Proā€™s cloud system (Homey is Offline), I hereby request that the software error to be corrected.
In the interim period, you and your users will be able to save a lot of time if you open up the possibility to open a menu where you could log on to your wifi network and subsequently re-establish the connection to the Homey cloud system with your account name and password.
Best regards
Jan Severinā€
Since there is a 3-week response time with Homey support, it would be really nice if anyone has any suggestions on how to get back to Homey Online?

This issue has existed for many years now, so apparently it canā€™t be fixed.

Thanks for your answer, do you know the reason why oneā€™s system suddenly goes offline?

It almost never really goes offline, itā€™s just that the Homey app thinks itā€™s offline. You can try giving Homey a fixed (static) IP address in your routerā€™s DHCP settings.

Hello again.
Thanks for your tip about the problem having been going on for several years.
I went back to the forum and found a Homey support answer to what could be wrong.
They wrote, among other things, that in some cases the error could be due to the supplied power supply.
I therefore chose as an attempt to follow their instructions to replace the included power supply with my Samsung 5.2 volt 2 amp power supply.
Thatā€™s what it took in my case because now Iā€™m online again.
HOPE THERE ARE OTHERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM WHO WILL TRY THIS SOLUTION

Ah yes, thatā€™s another problem that has existed for many years now :grimacing:

If you choose to replace the included power supply for your Homey Early 2023 Pro with a more stable power supply unit, it must be able to provide 5 volts and 2 amps. Since almost all new USB power supplies today are equipped with a Quick/fast charge function that can automatically supply from 5 to 20 volts, I would like to know if you can be absolutely sure that the Homeys Early pro software prevents the device from receiving more than 5 volts by mistake .

No, the Adapter only steps up to a higher voltage on request, so the Adapter you buy should prevent it as Homey would not ask for a different voltage.

btw most USB-C Adapters provide 5.0 volt and that is not enough as moet cables and connectors have a small voltage drop. Therefore the new Original Athom Homey Pro Adpater provides 5.2 Volt. Just enough more to compensate for the voltage drop at the cabling and have 5.0 at the CM4 unit.

Many thanks for the good info. :+1: :grinning:
Unfortunately, it has turned out that the charger that comes with the Homey Early 2023 Pro is of such poor quality that after only 1.5 years it can no longer deliver sufficient voltage.
I want to find a new usb charger that provides 5.2 volts and at least 5 Amps.
So far Iā€™m using my 12 year old samsung USB C charger that gives 5.2 volts and 2 Apm

Just for info, what the unstable power supply from Homey has caused.
In the period leading up to my Homey early 2023 pro going offline and the connection could not be re-established, I experienced great instability in my Homey scenes.
One day the devices turned off as they should and the next day only some of them worked.
I no longer have all these problems after I replaced the defective power supply that came with the Homey early 2023 pro.
Since I have not been able to find a standard power supply that provides 5.2 volts, I have chosen to buy a HOUHUI 12V 3A Adjustable Power Adapter, Adjustable Power Supply AC DC 4-12 Volt 3 Amp Universal Power Adapter with LED Voltage Display and 14 Tips, Universal Power Supply for Household Electronics, DC adjustable power supply for 17.84 euros at Amazon.de

It has a 2 year warranty. What did Athom say about your findings, Jan?

They apologize for my experiences and have offered to send a new one.
I have answered yes, thank you, just asked if they will send an improved version?
I am currently waiting their answers

I see, thanks for sharing, Jan.

Not sure if they improved the current 5.2V power unit, at the same time your findings for the Pro 2023 are the first I have read here on the forum ( no judgement, it just caught my eye ).

Itā€™s also possible you received a ā€˜Monday morningā€™ unit.
Did you change the USB power cable by any chance? Slight voltage drops can vary between different cables ā†’ but tbh it shouldnā€™t de- or increase over time of course.

So far I am using an old Samsung 5.2 volt 2 amp charger that once came with my first Samsung mobile phone.
I have chosen to buy a HOUHUI 12V 3A Adjustable Power Adapter, Adjustable Power Supply AC DC 4-12 Volt 3 Amp Universal Power Adapter with LED Voltage Display and 14 Tips, Universal Power Supply for Household Electronics, DC adjustable power supply for 17.84 euros at Amazon.de
The unit is equipped with a rotary knob and a display where you can precisely select the desired output voltage.
I have previously purchased this device for another purpose and it works flawlessly
I am waiting to recieve the item.

This sounds like a bad idea. Accidentally turn the knob and fry your Homey. Also, ā€œHOUHUIā€ doesnā€™t really sound like a very reputable brand.

Hi Jan,

Thank you for your response.

Yes we will ship the latest adapter that does not have this issue. If you run into any other issues, please contact us again. We will ship it from the Netherlands as soon as possible and the package will fit in your mailbox.

For now this is all I can do for you, which is why Iā€™m closing your ticket.

I wish you a great day and a lot of fun with Homey!

Best Regards,

Dorean

This means they acknowledge (a) batch(es) of bad 5.2VDC power units ā€œhave slipped through quality controlā€.

Iā€™d use the offered new Athom power unit during the remaining warranty at minimum, but itā€™s up to you.

ā€œHOUHUIā€ would also not be my first choice to power Homey with.
